Domestic prices of PVC in China fell again on November 16 amid downward sentiment in the market

MOSCOW ( MRC ) – On Thursday, November 16, both spot prices for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and futures dropped again in China against the background of downward sentiment in the Chinese market, ICIS reported.

Thus, PVC prices have been falling for six consecutive days, starting from November 8.

In the futures market, the estimated price of PVC on the Dalian commodity exchange with the shipment of material in January 2018 was 5,965 yuan (CNY) or USD899 per ton, which is CNY155 or USD23.4 per ton lower compared to the previous trading day.

In the spot market, quotes of acetylene PVC were in the region CNY6,300 or USD949 per tonne, EXW (ex-factory) in the south of China and CNY6,050 or USD912 per tonne, EXW, in the east of China, which is approximately CNY100 or USD15 per ton lower compared to with the level of the previous day.

Prices for raw materials remain low in the Chinese market, and strict environmental inspections have reduced demand for the material.

According to the ICIS-MRC Price Review , the current weakening of the ruble against the dollar forces Russian companies to completely abandon their work with imported materials.  External suppliers are also in no hurry to return to the Russian market.  Chinese manufacturers keep their prices at the level of USD870-910 per ton, DAP Moscow, for container shipments, and USD810-850 per ton, DAP border of China, for ordinary supplies.  There are no applications for the purchase of resin, and it seems that it will not be until January next year.
