MOSCOW – The contract price of ethylene in Europe for January supplies was finally agreed at the level of EUR1,057 per tonne, remaining thus at the level of December, ICIS was informed by four more parties to the transactions.
Confirmation from the fifth buyer is expected.
The contract price was agreed on the terms of FD NWE (with delivery to North-Eastern Europe).
The contract price is considered fully agreed upon after confirmation from a minimum of two manufacturers and by two consumers.
Ethylene is a raw material for the production of polyethylene (PE).
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , in Russia in the last week of December negotiations on January contract prices of polyethylene for the domestic market started. For the most part, Russian producers prolonged the December level of HDPE prices for January supplies.
In the spot market, demand for LDPE was seriously reduced, many processors closed their deals for December supplies. In the HDPE market demand was good during the week, some companies actively formed stocks for the first half of January.
