ExxonMobil announced the May contract price of paraxylene at USD1,030 per tonne
MOSCOW – ExxonMobil, the largest private US petrochemical company, has set a contract price for paraxylene in May for supplies in Asia at USD1,030 per tonne of CFR Asia, ICIS sources told the market.
The April contract price for the company’s materials was set at USD925-960 per ton.
Earlier it was reported that JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy (part of Nippon Oil Corporation), a major petrochemical producer in Japan, and SK Global Chemical (SKGC), one of the largest petrochemical producers in South Korea, announced the May contract price of paraxylene for deliveries to Asia at the level of USD1 040-1 050 per ton.
Paraxylene is used as a raw material for the synthesis of TPA – a semi-product for the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , the ruble’s exchange rate against the dollar and the euro and rising PET prices in China continue to put pressure on the cost of the material in the European market. Prices for Russian granules grow very fast. In the market, the deficit of PET is increasing. So, last week SIBUR raised the indicative value of its material at the Sibur-PET and Polyef plants from 95 thousand rubles. per ton up to 100 thousand rubles. per ton, FCA plant, including VAT.
