LDPE prices China weak demand   MOSCOW – Spot domestic prices for high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) in China fell on Tuesday, February 6, amid sluggish demand, ICIS reported.

Thus, spot quotes in the south of China fell to 9,975 yuan (CNY) or USD1,586 per ton, which is less than the previous day’s level of CNY50 (USD8) per ton, while the prices for LDPE decreased by CNY275 (USD44) per January 15 ton, according to ICIS.

The largest producer of Sinopec on Monday, February 5, reduced the price of LDPE in the south of China by CNY150 (USD24) per tonne to CNY10 100-10,150 or USD1 606-1,612 per tonne.

Despite the fact that traders offered LDPE at a lower price of CNY10,000 (USD1,590) per tonne in the spot market, there were no spot deals.  According to market sources, the stock of material from manufacturers and traders is growing on the eve of the Chinese New Year, which falls on February 15-21.

According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , in Russia last week the negotiation of polyethylene (PE) contract prices for February deliveries ended.  The opinions of the producers were divided, in the LDP segment, individual producers went for a significant reduction in prices.  Purchasing activity in the market last week increased, many companies resumed their purchases of polyethylene for work in February.
