As part of the project, we will collect data on waste quantity, capacity, capabilities and municipality plans on bottle recycling in Tehran and other cities across Iran. Our work with the Institute will also focus on the positive impact of PET bottle recycling, such as sustainability research, recycling PET, raw material supply and reducing plastic waste.
“The collaboration between this research centre and NW Iran in the field of PET recycling is encouraging,” said Dr Naddaf, Head of the Institute for Environmental Research (IER) at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS).
At the end of 12 months, we aim to highlight the current geographical distribution of PET bottle waste in the country, outline the current actions on recycling activities and include options for future collection and recycling.
NW Iran’s latest work with TUMS is part of Nestlé Iran’s 21 public environment and sustainable development commitments it made to Iranian society earlier this year.
