A recent deal to cut oil production agreed on by non-OPEC countries shows that OPEC does not play the same role it used to, and the views of Russia and other countries have to be taken into account, according to Ben Aris, editor and publisher of BNE.

A landmark deal was reached in Vienna on Saturday between OPEC and non-OPEC nations to drastically cut global oil production, the first such agreement in 15 years. It should help stabilize prices, which have slumped in recent years and wreaked havoc on oil-reliant economies Worldwide

Bundesbank Raises German Growth Forecasts – German Growth Forecasts

 German Growth ForecastsGermany’s economy is continuing its solid upturn, underpinned by buoyant domestic demand that is boosted by a strong labor market situation and rising household incomes, the Bundesbank said, raising the growth forecasts for this year and next.

Gross domestic product is set to grow 1.8 percent this year, which was slightly faster than the 1.7 percent expansion predicted in June, the bank said in its semi-annual economic projection.

Growth will continue at 1.8 percent next year, which was much stronger than 1.4 percent seen in June. The bank retained the projection for 2018 at 1.6 percent and predicted 1.5 percent expansion for 2019.

DSM Akulon®  Novamid® polyamide 6 Singapore, SG

DSM is increasing the price for its Akulon® and Novamid® polyamide 6 unfilled polymer grades used in Film, Extrusion and Injection Molding.
DSM will increase prices for polyamide polymer in Europe by €150/ton, by $0.08/lb in North America and by $180/ton in South America.
These increases will take effect for all orders shipped on or after 25 December 2016, where contracts allow.

On Nov 30th, 2016, OPEC members reached an agreement in oil production curtailment, which pushed crude oil prices up dramatically.

By Dec 5th, Brent crude oil futures surged to $54.94/bbl, the highest level since Jul, 2015.

Although some analysts questioned whether OPEC’s production curtailment would be carried out enough, the curtailment is inevitable.

Accordingly, U.S. oil index broken through curtail neckline of weekly k line, while weekly KD was above $50/bbl and weekly MACD was above zero axis.

Most compounding extruder executives say the U.S. is holding up — and it’s been fairly broad-based, even including some recycling lines. Automotive business remains solid.

The year 2016 was marked by acquisitions among compounders. Americhem Inc. bought V-Chem Corp. PolyOne Corp. picked up PTS GmbH. Ravago Group bought Industrial Resin Recycling Inc.

Machinery companies that supply complete systems, not just the extruder, are seeing strong demand.

Linda Campbell, director of sales at Entek Manufacturing in Lebanon, Ore., said the company did not sell as many units as officials wanted, but Entek sold many complete systems.
