Spot prices of paraxylene declined in Europe, halting a six-month uptrend 

 MOSCOW – Spot prices of paraxylene in the European market fell last week at USD15 per ton, thus halting their six-month uptrend, but quotations still remained at the highest level over the past three years, ICIS sources told the market.

Thus, the average spot prices for materials in Europe were USD870 per tonne at the end of last week, which corresponds to the level of December 2014.

Paraxylene prices in the European market were reduced, following the fall in prices in Asia.

The prices of paraxylene are listed on the terms of delivery to FOB Rotterdam.

Paraxylene is a raw material for the synthesis of terephthalic acid – a semi-product for the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , last week prices for Russian PET remained unchanged.  Spot prices of small free volumes of material were in the range of 92 000-96 000 rubles.  per ton, CPT Moscow, including VAT.
