Spot prices of LDPE in Europe are falling
MOSCOW – The spot prices of high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) in Europe are dropping amid fluctuations in demand and the desire of sellers to get rid of stock of material, ICIS reports citing market participants.
The demand depends on the fact that many buyers adhere to their regular suppliers of contract volumes in the hope of receiving traditional discounts at the end of the year related to volumes. In addition, many buyers want to end the year with low supplies of material.
According to the supplier, the LDP at the level of EUR1,180 per ton was offered on the market, in general, most market participants expect prices to fall below EUR1,200 per tonne, FD NWE (north-western Europe).
Most sellers described the demand as weak, despite rising raw material prices, which could trigger a rise in ethylene prices in December. Although most market participants do not expect that prices for polyethylene in December will rise.
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , in Russia the excess supply continues to have a serious impact on the prices of LDPE. Sellers continue to gradually reduce prices in order to activate demand from buyers. Good demand remains in the segment of the 108th LDPE, but it, despite a good demand, is rapidly becoming cheaper.
