SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler, a Switzerland based inventor of the electronic yarn traverse system, will be presenting at the forthcoming Techtextil exhibition for technical textiles and nonwovens in Frankfurt, Germany, from 9-12 May 2017. SSM package winder

Techtextil is Europe’s leading fair for technical textiles and nonwoven products.

The show is covering twelve application areas, which comprehensively span the full range of modern textile technologies. SSM package winder

SSM will show its winding machine for technical yarns.

Challenge

“The unique characteristics of tailor-made high performance yarns is helping such yarns to substitute other classical materials in large range of applications; thereby continually increasing the usage of technical textiles and consequently their consumption,” the company explains.

“Despite this overall positive scenario production lot sizes can vary greatly; from large ones for standard yarns to small ones for specialties, managing such variances poses a challenge for any producer.” SSM package winder

Technology

The SSM DURO-TW precision winder for all technical yarns up to 50’000 dtex is said to offer a new level of flexibility and winding quality in one machine; thereby ensuring the fulfilment of all customer requirements. SSM package winder

It features fastflex electronic yarn laying system for flexibility for all types of yarns and tube dimensions, precision and DIGICONE winding for guaranteed unwinding performance, fast style-change time for yarn to yarn and tube to tube, and large range of options available for a wide range of applications. The assembly winder DURO-TD is said to allow the plying of multiple ends/yarns; independently of them being of the same type or completely different.

Optional intermingling guarantees loop-free twists, as well as optimal unwinding during twisting, according to the company.

The ability to run closed precision winding is said to enable higher package densities, thereby increasing the knot-free length.

SSM AG

The Schärer, Schweiter and Mettler companies merged in 1989 to become SSM.

In 1999, Stähle-Eltex and SSM merged to develop air texturing technology and to strengthen their leadership position in the marketplace.

With HACOBA as its partner, SSM is also able to offer a complete range of sewing thread finishing machines.

The company can also offer a complete portfolio for processed yarns. Since 2012, SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler has taken over the activities of Giudici, Italy.

Giudici’s strong market position in the field of false twist texturing of high quality fine count Nylon yarns, an application that complements SSM’s established leadership in air texturing, will further expand SSM’s business in the chemical fibre processing industry, the company believes.
