The spot PET prices in the region on CFR terms were USD1,130-1,180 per tonne per week ending December 6th, which is USD30-40 per tonne higher than a week earlier.
Some price proposals for materials of Asian origin were at the level of USD1,100 per tonne, CFR GCC on December 13th.
Prices for purified terephthalic acid (TFA) and monoethylene glycol (MEG) in the region also declined on December 13 compared with a week earlier.
Earlier it was reported that the price proposals of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in the Asian market rose sharply last week amid an increase in raw material prices.
Spot prices in the region were in the range of USD1 020-1 050 per ton, FOB China, and USD1 100-1 130 per ton, FOB India, in the week ending November 30.
According to the ICIS-MRC Price Review , in December, the cost of PET for Russian processors reached its lowest level in the second half of this year.
The sharp decline in prices in the Chinese market last week was replaced by growth.
The cost of PET for contract buyers in the Russian Federation this month will be in the range of 100 000-103 000 rubles. per ton, CPT Moscow, including VAT.

A major new polypropylene plant under construction in Calgary, Alberta, is on track to begin production in the second half of 2021.
The plant, along with a propylene monomer unit at the same site, is being built by Inter Pipeline Ltd. David Chappell, petrochemical development senior vice president with the company, provided an update on the project Oct. 31 at Global Plastics Summit 2018 in Chicago.
The PP and propylene units each will have annual capacity of more than 1.1 billion pounds. The propylene unit will use propane dehydrogenation technology. The site, part of the Heartland Petrochemical Complex, is expected to be employ 3,000 construction workers by next summer, Chappell said.
Oil prices rose on Wednesday, bolstered by export cuts from Libya and planned OPEC-led production cuts, pulling back briefly after the United States reported a smaller-than-expected crude inventory drawdown.
US crude stockpiles fell 1.2 million barrels last week, the Energy Information Administration said, a much smaller drawdown than 10 million barrels reported by industry group the American Petroleum Institute on Tuesday and less than half the draw of 3 million barrels analysts had forecast.
“The divergence from the large inventory decline reported by the API makes the report appear more negative than it actually was,” said John Kilduff, a partner at Again Capital Management in New York.
