MOSCOW – In the SEZ “Alabuga” they plan to launch production of bioplastics in the third quarter of 2021, reports Tatar-Inform .

The initiator of the project was TAIF holding together with Italian producer of PHAs-bioplastics Investire Italis Srl (Bio-on).

“In the SEZ Alabuga, the company plans to carry out the production of PHA-bioplastics in the amount of 10 thousand tons per year. The start-up period is the third quarter of 2021,” the press service stressed. TAIF bioplastic production Alabuga

The amount of funding for the project, according to the business plan, will be 9.7 billion rubles.  The plant will occupy an area of ​​7 hectares, it will create 90 jobs.

The agreement on the production of bioplastics in the Republic of Tatarstan, the President of Tatarstan signed in 2017 as part of a working visit to Italy.  Initially, the plant was supposed to be placed on the basis of Kazanorgsintez.

Tatarstan bioplastic will be produced from waste from the processing of sugar beet – molasses (molasses).  According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov, there are enough resources for that in the Republic of Tatarstan. “Every year we process 3 million tons of sugar beet. As a result, 100-120 thousand tons of molasses fodder syrup remains. We can assume that for the project proposed by the Milan company this is enough to produce 10 tons of bioplastic per year,” Akhmetov shared.
