MOSCOW – India has extended anti-dumping duties (ADD) on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) imported from the United States and China, while simultaneously removing those that apply to Thai goods, with immediate effect, reports ICIS .
According to the documents, anti-dumping duties were extended to Chinese and American PVC for 30 months from July 18, 2019 due to an investigation.
The anti-dumping duty from the US manufacturer Oxy Vinyls was reduced to USD49.1 per ton from USD115.54 per ton; while for Westlake Vinyls Co was saved at USD29.99 per ton. India antidumping duties polyvinylchloride
PVC from other US manufacturers is subject to a duty of USD115.54 per ton.
PVC anti-dumping duties from Chinese manufacturers Tianjin LG Bohai Chemical, Tianneng Chemical, Xinjiang Shengxiong Chlor-Alkali, Chiping Xinfa PVC, CNSG Jilantai Salt Chlor-Alkali Chemical and Yibin Haifeng Herui were reduced to USD61.14 per tonne , 27 per ton.
All Chinese-made PVC materials will be subject to duties of USD147.96 per ton.

MOSCOW – Demand for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in South Asia declined during the rainy season, ICIS reported, citing market participants.
Market participants are waiting for new proposals for the August deliveries from Northeast Asia, which are expected to be announced next week.
Increasing precipitation in some parts of India led to a decrease in demand, and an increasing number of buyers took a break to wait for the seasonal monsoon to end.
According to ICIS, in the second week of July, PVC prices did not change and amounted to USD860-890 per ton, CFR India in the week ending July 12.

The idea of a “biodegradable” plastic suggests a material that would degrade to little or nothing over a period of time, posing less of a hazard to wildlife and the environment. This is the sort of claim often made by plastic manufacturers, yet recent research has revealed supposedly biodegradable plastic bags still intact after three years spent either at sea or buried underground. So un-degraded were these bags that they were still able to hold more than two kilos of shopping.
The study’s authors, Imogen Napper and Richard Thompson at the University of Plymouth, tested compostable, biodegradable, oxo-biodegradable, and conventional polythene plastic bags in three different natural environments: buried in the ground, outdoors exposed to air and sunlight, and submerged in the sea.
Transportation and energy company Tesla is reportedly working on a new type of soft and durable fabric to make seating in its electric vehicles last longer. The development, termed ‘load-bearing fabric architecture’ that can withstand varying loads, was revealed in a new patent application filed by Tesla last year that recently became public.
