European nylon 6,6 contract prices for July have settled at decreases of €0.05/kg on the back of persistent low demand in the downstream automotive sector.
Contract prices have fallen for the third consecutive month.
Summer market activity remains quiet and some buyers skipped negotiations for July volumes due to high stock levels.
The price range for nylon 6,6 virgin polymer stands at €4.13-4.27/kg FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe) for July.
Supply is stable to ample, depending on the player, but concerns remain for the fourth quarter due to the Butachimie planned turnaround for key nylon 6,6 feedstock adiponitrile (ADN) in Chalampe, France. Petrochemicals Biodegradable Crude Oil
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has issued Decision No.2334/QD-BCT on launching anti-dumping investigation on Biaxial Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) film originating from China, Thailand and Malaysia.
The investigation was initiated based on requests of domestic producers on April 26. In their petitions, Hung Nghiep Formosa Ltd Company and Youl Chon Vina Plastic JSC said BOPP film products imported from the three countries were dumped in the Vietnamese market, causing significant damage to Vietnam’s BOPP film production industry.
Montefibre Carbon’s 80k aims to be the new standard for large-tow carbon fiber for industrial purposes, and the company expects its impact on the industry to be similar to the 50k tow first launched more than 20 years ago.
Montefibre’s carbon fiber precursor is produced from an exclusive polyacrylonitrile formulation (PAN), which enables a carbon fiber of high resistance, high elastic modulus, and low density, and which translates to very rigid and lightweight high performance composites. It is the latest environmental craze. Around the world a raft of new canned water products have been launched in an attempt to offer a greener alternative to the environmentally vilified plastic water bottle. Petrochemicals Biodegradable Crude Oil
They have also found a ready audience. As awareness has spread of the devastating ecological impact of single-use plastics, environmentally conscious consumers and Blue Planet fans have increasingly turned to alternative materials such as aluminium, glass, and cartons when buying bottled water. But are alternative forms of packaging really any greener than the plastic bottles they aspire to replace?

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak is responsible for the development of technical textile sector in the Russian government.
The Russian technical textiles industry may receive an additional impetus for growth this year, thanks to the recently announced government plans to ease the existing restrictions on global producers taking part in public tenders for the purchase of innovative textile products for state needs.
These plans have been recently confirmed by Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, responsible for the development of the technical textiles sector.

Packaging specialist Klöckner Pentaplast has announced it is taking part in a unique four-year collaboration project to recover plastics from general domestic waste collections.
The first of its kind, this unique project is being trialled in Pravia, Spain, and is designed to recover plastics from domestic general waste collections – upon its success it could be rolled out nationwide.
CEUS – ‘Circular Economy for Urban Plastic Waste’ – has been established with a number of stakeholders working to avoid plastics from domestic collections ending up in landfill that could otherwise be recycled.
Going circular seems to be all the rage, and that is certainly a good thing for both mankind’s and the planet’s future. But for a manufacturer, making the shift to circular processes or materials is not without its risks.
Perhaps few companies know that better than Eastman, the specialty chemical company, ranked No. 32 globally for sales in that sector. Back in the 1990s, Eastman made a major investment to develop a commercial line of PET materials that used 50 percent chemically recycled content. That effort was ahead of its time, and the line was discontinued because the demand never materialized.
Now, sensing the shifting winds, Eastman is back with not one, but two new circular production processes.
We all are witnessing round the clock changes in all the aspects of our life. The industrial world is also well come the new technologies.
In the last decade, numerous advanced technologies are invented which are actually helping several industries and making their business fast and profitable. Plastic molding process is one of such technology and in this particular blog we are going to discuss interesting facts about the plastic molding technologies which have numerous applications in the modern industrial world.
When the sun rises over the horizon in the southern Indian village of Kuthenkuly, Jesuraja and his fellow fishermen prepare to set off for a new day at sea.
But they are not looking for fish – they are searching for abandoned fishing nets floating in the Indian Ocean.
Also known as “ghost nets”, this often nylon plastic netting has caused serious environmental damage. It entangles marine life and degrades into microplastics that are eaten by fish, entering the food chain. It also snags boat propellers and damages engines.

The Lenzing Group continued its solid business development in the first half of 2019. Despite a significantly more challenging market environment with historically low prices for standard viscose, Lenzing recorded a slight increase in revenue.
It increased by 1.2% in the first half of 2019 and amounted to EUR 1.09 billion. The share of specialty fibres in revenue, at 48.4%, significantly exceeded the prior-year value of 44.1%. EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) dropped by 7% to EUR 181.2 million. This decline primarily resulted from higher production volumes and currency effects, which led to an increase in pulp costs, from an increase in personnel expenses and the market environment for standard viscose. Every day, dairies dispose of milk that for one reason or another is deemed unfit for human consumption. A Los Angeles-based startup by the name of Mi Terro is taking some of that milk and using it to create T-shirts, that reportedly have some big advantages over regular cotton Tees.
The process starts by obtaining waste milk that gets fermented and then skimmed, removing its fat content. It is subsequently dewatered, resulting in a powdered milk that gets purified to remove all substances other than a naturally-occurring protein known as casein.Petrochemicals Biodegradable Crude Oil
