Svolt’s Million-Kilometer Batteries or 5-Minute Charging
The company presents three revolutionary products utilizing short blade prismatic cells, breaking records in range and charging times.
From BYD to others, more and more battery manufacturers are adopting the extended prismatic cell “blade” formula. Following Geely, Svolt has introduced “short blade” prismatic cells with lithium iron phosphate chemistry that can charge from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes and have a lifespan of 3,500 cycles. A Million-Kilometer Battery
The prismatic cell mentioned above has an energy density of 188 Wh/kg and can charge with powers up to 250 kW. It is nearing production, with the first units expected to roll out in December of this year. Svolt claims that in an electric vehicle with a 60 kWh battery and an average consumption of 20 kWh/100 km, these LFP chemistry cells could guarantee over 1 million kilometers before performance declines to levels unsuitable for automotive use.
5-Minute Charging
Another innovation from Svolt is a “short blade” cell with traditional nickel manganese cobalt chemistry that supports ultra-fast charging. It can charge from 10% to 80% in just 5 minutes, as it can handle charging powers up to 600 kWh. Plastics sorting
With an energy density of 240 Wh/kg, it enables the creation of high-capacity battery packs, even up to 120 kWh, which could provide modern, efficient cars with a range of up to 1,000 km between charges.
800-Volt for Plug-Ins
The final innovation from Svolt is the “800 Volt 4C PHEV Dragon Armor” battery. As the name suggests, it’s a battery for plug-in hybrid vehicles compatible with 800-volt architectures. It also features a “short blade” shape, NMC chemistry, and a density of 250 Wh/kg. This battery will allow a PHEV to travel up to 300 km in all-electric mode, a significant leap forward considering that today, few can achieve 100 km with zero emissions. Production is set to begin in mid-2025. Plastics sorting
