The initial contract price of acrylonitrile (ACN) for February in Europe increased by EUR28 per tonne

Acrylonitrile ACN Contract price February Europe MOSCOW – The initial contract price of acrylonitrile (ACN) in Europe for February supplies was agreed at EUR28 per tonne higher than the level of January, ICIS reported on Friday, citing price confirmation from market sources.

This increase of EUR5 per tonne is higher than the rise in raw material prices, which amounted to EUR23 per ton.

The contract price was approved on the basis of FD NWE (with delivery to North-Western Europe).

Confirmation of this contract price by the other participants in the negotiation process is expected.

The contract price is considered fully agreed upon after confirmation from a minimum of two producers (suppliers) and by two consumers.

If this contract price is confirmed by other negotiators, then the February contract price of DCA in Europe will be in the range EUR1,977-2,037 per tonne, FD NWE (North-Western Europe).

Earlier it was noted that the contract price of DCA in Europe for January supplies was agreed above the level of the previous month, but the contract price levels are different. So, January deals were concluded both at EUR37 per ton higher than December, and at EUR40 higher than the previous month, and a large number of deals were agreed at EUR38 per ton higher than December prices.

Acrylonitrile is one of the main raw materials for the production of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS).

According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , last December ABS imports to Russia totaled 2.2 thousand tons against 2.7 thousand tons a month earlier. Supplies fell by 17% compared to December 2016.

As a result, in 2017, as a whole, ABS imports to the Russian market increased by 5% to 30.3 thousand tons against 29.0 thousand tons a year earlier
