Ampacet doubles colour production capacity and expands European R&D  Ampacet colour production capacity

Ampacet, a premier global provider of masterbatch and additive materials, services and solutions, announces the start-up of two new colour production lines and the expansion of its research and development and colour labs in Dudelange, Luxembourg.

The two new colour production lines, due to become active during the second quarter of 2019, are part of Ampacet’s long-term expansion plan. Both lines were engineered with a focus on safety and ergonomics. Ampacet colour production capacity

Their energy and water systems have also been modified to produce minimal environmental impact.

One of the two lines will be dedicated to the production of engineering polymers to better respond to market trends and customer needs. Both lines will further reduce lead times and increase flexibility for delivery of polyolefin-based colour masterbatches.

Sustainable development

The company has also completed the expansion of its European research and development centre by nearly doubling the size of the lab. Investments include a new injection moulding machine and a blow mouding machine that will speed colour matching services.

Furthermore, Ampacet has installed the latest generation, single-stage full electric PET machine (ISBM machine), which produces both a preform and a bottle in a single step for:

  • Significant time savings,
  • Increased colour service speed,
  • Improved onsite colour matching,
  • Precise carriage movements, and
  • Mould interchangeability for increased flexibility.

Ampacet has also acquired the latest xenon arc-based weathering device which closely reproduces solar radiation. Ampacet colour production capacity

Used to accelerate the ageing process of masterbatches, this machine is indispensable in product development and quality control.

Equipped with a water recycling system that will save more than 800 litres of water per day, the acquisition represents Ampacet’s commitment to sustainability innovations, solutions and the environment.
