-BASF ChemCycling process uses post-consumer plastic waste to produce virgin grade material

Pilot project takes steps toward flexible food contact approved packaging from plastic waste  Crude Oil Recycling Technopolymers

ChemCycling is the name of a new pilot project, being undertaken in partnership with Mondi, the global packaging and paper group, and COROOS, a food-industry supplier, by which Germany-based chemical producer BASF is further developing their process for the chemical recycling of plastic waste. Crude Oil Recycling Technopolymers

Plastic waste that is difficult to recycle, such as mixed or contaminated plastics, is converted into a pyrolysis oil through thermochemical processes. This secondary raw material can be used as input in BASF’s production process, thereby partly replacing fossil resources, to manufacture numerous chemical products.

-Mideast PP, PE cargoes for Asia-Pacific buyers minimal

There are still very few cargoes of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) from the Mideast Gulf being offered to buyers in Asia-Pacific, and October supply could be limited if Saudi producers prioritise clearing backlog cargoes from this month.

Saudi producers, who are major exporters to Asia-Pacific, typically offer new allocations to the region at the end of the month. Crude Oil Recycling Technopolymers

Petrochemical feedstock was curtailed across Saudi after an attack on oil installations on 14 September, affecting production of polymers.

-PureCycle successfully runs ultra-pure recycled PP

PureCycle Technologies has successfully transformed waste carpet into ultra-pure recycled polypropylene (UPRP) resin, through its proprietary plastics recycling technology developed by Procter & Gamble (P&G). Crude Oil Recycling Technopolymers

The successful scaling of the technology unlocks potential for a wide range of waste PP that can be restored to its original virgin-like condition. This technology will result in a substantial increase in demand for waste PP and will help to provide alternatives to landfilling and exporting plastics waste.
