Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha raised the price of TiO2
MOSCOW – The largest Japanese producer of titanium dioxide (TiO2) Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) announced an increase in the price for TiO2 in the Asia-Pacific region at USD200 per tonne, ICIS reported citing a source in the company.
The price increase is effective from April 1, 2018, the source added.
Other international manufacturers also announced similar intentions to raise TiO2 contract prices in the second quarter amid a decline in Chinese exports in recent months.
Earlier it was reported that Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha Ltd (ISK) closed the TiO2 plant in Singapore in 2013 to reduce production costs. The plant with the capacity of 54 thousand tons of pigmentary titanium dioxide, operating according to chloride technology, was opened in February 1989.
Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) is the largest producer of titanium dioxide in Japan and produces it in factories located in Japan and Singapore. ISK was founded in 1920 in Osaka for the extraction of iron ore on the Malay Peninsula. In 1954, a plant for the production of titanium dioxide by sulphate technology was built, in 1963 – for the production of yellow pigment, and in 1974 – a plant for the production of titanium dioxide by chloride technology. Since 1958 the company has its own research and development center.
