In Germany, new capacities for Tepex fiber-reinforced and Durethan and Pocan engineering polymers are under construction in Brilon and Krefeld-Uerdingen.
The German group Lanxess has announced investments to increase in Germany the production capacity of both thermoplastic composites reinforced with continuous Tepex fibers, and polyamide-based technopolymers (PA6 and 66) and PBTs marketed under the Durethan and Pocan brands respectively. Lanxess composites compounds Tepex fiber reinforced
With regard to composites for structural lightening, work is underway in Brilon, North Rhine-Westphalia, at the subsidiary Bond-Laminates, for the fourth, which will host two new lines in the middle of next year. with 30 employees for the production of advanced materials for applications in the automotive, electrical engineering and sporting sectors.
The new area, equal to 1,500 m2. it will be added to the existing one (5,000 m2). With the Tepex brand, Lanxess markets composite leaves in continuous carbon, glass or aramid fiber impregnated with thermoplastic resin.Lanxess composites compounds Tepex fiber reinforced
The intervention in Krefeld-Uerdingen, already announced in September (read article), will start by the end of this year to be completed in mid-2019: a new line for compounds, a silos and a deposit will be built on the German site, with the creation of 20 new jobs.
The common thread that binds the two investments is the strengthening of production capacities in materials intended for metal-replacement for structural lightening, especially of vehicles, in line with the requests from car manufacturers that must meet increasingly stinging requirements on consumption and emissions.
