-Grace Licenses UNIPOL® PP Process Technology to Dongguan Grand Resource for Two Additional Lines

  1. R. Grace & Co. the leading independent supplier of polyolefin catalyst technology and polypropylene (PP) process technology, has licensed its UNIPOL® PP Process Technology to Dongguan Grand Resource Science & Technology Co. Ltd. (DGR). The UNIPOL® PP facility, located in Guangdong Province, China, is designed to produce 600 KTA of polypropylene. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

This is part of the continued investment in UNIPOL® PP Process Technology lines by DGR. The first license was signed in 2016. Building additional capacity at the same site will help DGR further optimize costs, shorten construction time, and broaden their product portfolio.

In addition to the process technology license, the collaboration includes a long-term catalyst supply agreement between Grace and DGR, giving DGR the ability to produce a wide variety of resin grades and provide more polypropylene options to their customers.

Inoplast, founded in 2010, specialises in recycling plastics of all kinds. The main focus is on the contract treatment of production wastes, where the expanding company recycles its customers’ plastic scrap and makes it available again as high-quality recycled material.

Inoplast MD Alexander Müller said: “In this market characterised by growth, it is important for us to work not only economically but also ecologically, and to conserve resources. We were more than convinced by the fact that the plant is more in line with our requirements, the outstanding expertise of the ips team in the recycling branch, and the ‘Made in Germany’ quality.”

-Brexit: Cost of everyday goods ‘could rise’ without a deal, hauliers warn

The cost of moving goods could also rise due to tariffs, and inflation could be driven up, Logistics UK added.

In a letter to the Sunday Times, David Wells, the group’s chief executive, urged the PM to work towards a deal.   Petrochemical Hydrogen HDPE Automotive

A government spokesperson said a negotiated outcome by 31 December “remains our preference”.

Ministers have warned firms to “get ready” for change at the end of the transition period.

-The Russian authorities will allocate 9% of GDP to support the economy in 2020-2021

The volume of anti-crisis support for the Russian economy in 2020-2021 will amount to 9% of GDP, Kommersant reports, citing Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.

However, he hopes that unscheduled measures will not be needed next year. “Generally speaking, how much money the state will spend this year and next, it is about 9% of GDP, because we have switched from a budget surplus to a deficit budget, budget revenues have been sharply reduced, and all this will require additional financial opportunities.” said Siluanov. He also hopes that no additional funds will be required in 2021. “I would like to hope that we will be able to get by with those planned decisions and will not take any additional unplanned measures,” the Minister of Finance said.

According to Anton Siluanov, the funds of the National Welfare Fund (NWF) will be enough to finance budget expenditures for three years at an oil price of about USD20 per barrel. According to him, now the volume of the fund is just over 7% of GDP. “We believe that this is the safe limit that allows us to finance expenses within three years when oil prices fall to around USD20 per barrel,” he said.

The volume of the NWF as of October 1 amounted to 13.733 trillion rubles, or 12.1% of GDP, the volume of the fund’s liquid assets (funds in bank accounts with the Central Bank) amounted to 9.346 trillion rubles, or 8.2% of GDP.

Earlier, the government approved a nationwide economic recovery plan. The cost of anti-crisis measures was estimated at 6.4 trillion rubles. The main idea of the plan is to achieve growth of 3% of GDP through digitalization of the public administration environment and interaction with business, mass deregulation, road investments and targeted subsidies.

-U.S. Chemical Production Expanded In September

According to the American Chemistry Council (ACC), the U.S. Chemical Production Regional Index (U.S. CPRI) rose 0.8 percent in September following a 0.8 percent gain in August and a 1.0 percent increase in July. During September, chemical output expanded in all regions, with the largest gains occurring in the Northeast. The U.S. CPRI is measured on a three-month moving average (3MMA) basis. In September, chemical production continued to improve in many segments, including, chlor-alkali, organic chemicals, industrial gases, synthetic dyes and pigments, consumer products, synthetic rubber, manufactured fibers, other specialty chemicals, and fertilizers. Production eased in plastic resins, coatings, adhesives, and crop protection chemicals.

-German renewables on track to reach 50pc this year

The share of German renewables output in the country’s generation mix could be at around 50pc this year, supported by higher capacity, favourable weather conditions and lower demand owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. Petrochemical Hydrogen HDPE Automotive

The share of the country’s renewable output in the country’s total power generation currently stands at 52.4pc, data from German institute Fraunhofer ISE show. This is already 6.3 percentage points higher than the levels seen in 2019.

A number of factors have supported this. German wind power capacity has increased by 870MW between January and August this year to be at around 55GW as of the end of August. The sector forecasts cumulative onshore wind additions of 1.5GW this year. Solar photovoltaic (PV) installations have totalled 52.39GW as of the end of August, up by 2.46GW since December last year.

-Electrolux presents a vacuum cleaner 100% made from recycled and reused materials

Today, more than 400 million tonnes of plastic are produced every day around the world, but only less than 12% is turned into recycled material. Manufacturers have serious difficulty finding recycled materials of reliability, quality and consistency. For this reason, in 2010, the Electrolux Group was a pioneer in alerting to this problem through the “Vac Rom The Sea” project, feeling a repercussion of its action, but on a small scale.

To accelerate this process of change, the Electrolux Group is now joining Stena Recycling, in collaboration with the Circular Initiative, with the aim of learning how to operate the recycled plastic market as well as the virgin materials market. Thus, the first result of this survey is a visionary vacuum cleaner built 100% from recycled materials and electronic components from reused plastics. Petrochemical Hydrogen HDPE Automotive

-This is how scientists potentially could turn discarded plastic into consumer goods

Chemicals from waste plastic could be used in detergent, paint or medicine.

A novel technique can simultaneously break down the most commonly used form of plastic and synthesize valuable, widely used molecules, potentially making some plastic waste recycling more attractive and practical, a new study finds. Petrochemical Hydrogen HDPE Automotive

Roughly 300 million metric tons of plastic waste is created every year, with nearly 12 billion metric tons of such garbage expected to pollute the planet by 2050. The molecule polyethylene, often used in packaging and grocery bags, is the largest component of plastic waste, and may take many centuries to decompose, said study senior author Susannah Scott, a chemical engineer at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

-Arburg’s next-generation rotary table machine

Machinery maker Arburg says it is significantly expanding its range of vertical rotary table machines to include a 1,300-mm table diameter option Allrounder 1300 T. Compared to its predecessor, the 1200 T, this new machine offers more space for heavier moulds – and with a significantly reduced installation area. Petrochemical Hydrogen HDPE Automotive

The German company already offers a wide range of vertical V and T-series Allrounders for manual and automated loading and unloading tasks. The rotary table machines can be automated all the way through to complete turnkey systems. The new Allrounder 1300 T has been further developed on the basis of the proven Allrounder 1200 T.

-Scientists have developed a textile that can recognize objects by touch

Researchers from Microsoft and several universities have developed Capacitivo, an intelligent tissue system that recognizes food, drinks and other objects solely by touch. The fabric uses a combination of capacitive electrode mesh and machine learning to measure the material and shape of a given item. It also works with some containers, including glasses and bowls. Initially, researchers turned this technology into a tablecloth and found it especially useful for cooking. Smart Cloth can suggest food based on what is on the table, and a dedicated diet control app will know what you ate.
