-Recycling revolution

Recycling is in the spotlight. Following China’s import restrictions – which included most plastics – waste management companies across the US began telling municipalities there was no longer a market for recycling. This left communities with two choices – to pay much higher rates to get rid of recycling or to throw it away.

Where recycling does occur, there is a lack of understanding of what can be recycled and how to recycle. While some plastic material cannot be recycled, resins such as PET and HDPE are two of the most recyclable materials on the market.

-Coca-Cola hits back at ad complaint

Coca-Cola European Partners has rejected criticism of Christmas advertising promoting the green credentials of its packaging for not being ‘single use’.

The company’s recent advertising campaign claims “single-use plastic bottles are only single-use if they are thrown away”, with ads appearing in newspapers and tube stations. However, environmental group City to Sea responded to the marketing by complaining to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), claiming the adverts were ‘misleading’. It claimed Coca-Cola packaging often contributed to food and drink packaging waste, despite being billed as eco-friendly. Petrochemical PE Biobased Automotive

-New Delabeler from STADLER Increases Output & Purity for Bottle Recyclers

German recycling equipment manufacturer, STADLER, has launched a new Delabeler for plastic bottle sorting plants, where it can significantly increase the output and purity rates.

Plastic has become an indispensable feature of modern life, and has many redeeming qualities: it is flexible and strong, as well as light; it can be used in place of natural resources such as ivory or wood, and is very good for keeping foods fresh, just to mention a few. However, its durability means that it does not break down easily when it is discarded, so that plastic waste is building up in landfills and flooding our oceans.

A responsible use of plastic, and its re-introduction into the production cycle at the end of its life through recycling, have become a necessity in order to address this issue effectively.Petrochemical PE Biobased Automotive
