-Mars and Nestle spearhead chemicals recycling scheme for plastics

Mars and Nestlé have teamed up with packaging solutions firm Citeo, energy giant Total and recycling technology provider Recycling Technologies to develop an industrial chemical recycling process for plastic packaging in France.

The companies from all points of the plastic packaging value chain have teamed up to examine the technical and economic barriers and feasibility of developing recycling solutions for packaging such as multi-layered food-grade packaging. The initiative is targeting types of plastics deemed non-recyclable that are sent for incineration or disposed of in landfill instead.

The price of natural HDPE from curbside collection programs is up again this month. The national average price has now reached 58.25 cents per pound, compared with 51.75 cents this time last month. In some areas, the plastic type is trading as high as 62.00 cents per pound, a 10-year high.

Azerbaijan will build its first bioplastic plant in the High Technology Park in Pirallahi, in the outskirts of Baku, Board Chairman of the Azerbaijan’s Innovation Agency Tural Karimli has said. Petrochemical PEF Biobased Automotive

Finnish biomaterials start-up Sulapac and cosmetic industry packaging supplier Quadpack have agreed to partner on microplastic-free packaging.

The agreement will enable Quadpack to become the ‘Preferred Global Cosmetics Packaging Partner’ in Sulapac’s partner programme. Sulapac’s existing and new cosmetic customers will have access to various sustainable packaging solutions.
