Teijin Frontier, Teijin group’s fibres and products converting company, has developed a polyester fabric that looks and feels like fine silk. Teijin Frontier which envisions various applications for its silk-like material such as blouses and outers from thin to medium thicknesses, is targeting annual sales of 150,000 metres by fiscal year ending March 2022.
While high-function materials made with synthetic fibres are recently established as fashion trend in the market, demand also has been growing for natural-texture materials made with natural fibres. Materials in which delicate fibre fluff is expressed, or fibrillated, on the surface of the fabric for smooth textures, similar to silk or cupro, are becoming popular, but these materials have problems with colour fastness in wet condition, yarn strength, colour migration, fading due to fluff release and shape loss by washing.
Demand in the East Mediterranean (East Med) polyolefin markets remains weak, with soft offtakes likely to extend into August.

Offers for August-loading cargoes are expected to emerge later this week.
Regional demand has been sluggish in recent years amid sluggish macroeconomic performance in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
Economic weakness has had a direct impact on consumption of finished goods, thereby affecting polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) packaging demand.
Tri-Star Packaging is launching ‘a UK first’ – disposable cutlery which cannot only be recycled but is also made from recycled materials.
Over the past 18 months, Tri-Star Packaging and its manufacturer suppliers have been consistently developing more and more products featuring recycled PET (rPET) material.
“We recognise the need to reduce reliance on ‘virgin’ PET, accessing the post-consumer waste stream and leading the way in incorporating more and more rPET into our packaging,” said Tri-Star Packaging founder Kevin Curran. Petrochemicals Biodegradable Biomass
New recycling standards and electrical service upgrades are among the steps Ardent Mills has taken to reduce its environmental impact, according to a sustainability report released by the company on July 29.
In the company’s Newton, Kansas, U.S., flour mill, new recycling standards resulted in 400 tons of recycled waste last year. This is equivalent to more than 1,300 cubic yards of waste diverted from the landfill and more than 6,700 trees saved, the company said.
Today’s world is thirsting for new tech and companies and creative people do not disappoint.
Innovations are made in order to help the world to become better and easier to live in a place, not only from a social point of view, but also from an economic one.
There are a few interesting technological innovations that came into view in 2019 that have the potential to become a solution to today’s challenges.

South Korea is seeking an annual $350 million in trade sanctions against the United States in an Obama-era dispute over tariffs on steel pipes, it said in a World Trade Organization (WTO) filing published on Tuesday.
South Korea went to the WTO in 2014 to challenge U.S. tariffs levied on oil country tubular goods (OCTG), a type of steel piping used in the energy industry.
Washington said its tariffs aimed to stop South Korea exporting the product at unfairly cheap prices. After South Korea won a partial victory at the WTO, the United States had until July 12 to comply with that ruling. Petrochemicals Biodegradable Biomass
For this week’s discussion, social entrepreneur and sustainability advocate (and my good friend!) Yana Santiago shares a thing or two—four actually—about the plastic we wear but rarely talk about: polyester. Petrochemicals Biodegradable Biomass
If you’re the type to check tags and care labels on your favorite wardrobe staples, you would know that most of them are probably made from synthetic fiber or fiber-mixes. Polyester, nylon, acrylic, and other man-made yarns are now about 60 percent of the material that makes up our clothes.
With fashion companies operating on a relentless drive for innovation, with it comes overconsumption and an unbelievable amount of waste. Here are four ways your polyester clothes are just like plastic straws
Following the steep decline of Iranian oil exports after the U.S. ended all waivers for Iran’s oil buyers, Iran is calling on China and other ‘friendly countries’, as it put it, to buy more crude oil from the Islamic Republic.
“Even though we are aware that friendly countries such as China are facing some restrictions, we expect them to be more active in buying Iranian oil,” Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri was quoted as saying by Iranian media. Jahangiri was meeting with Song Tao, Head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, in Tehran this week. Petrochemicals Biodegradable Biomass

New statement to WTO follows concerns raised by Russia and the Philippines
The US has stepped up its objection to an EU proposal to classify titanium dioxide as a category 2 carcinogen, asking the Commission “to take no further action” until it directly addresses WTO members on the matter.
The comments were made in a second US statement to the WTO’s Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade, circulated on 23 July – five days after the EU executive provided assurances in response to initial US concerns expressed in March.
