All RadiciGroup production and commercial companies (Specialty Chemicals, High Performance Polymers and Synthetic Fibers) are regularly operational and able to guarantee the continuity of relations with their customers and suppliers: the Bergamo-based chemical group said in a statement, polymers and synthetic fibers.
“Even in a particular situation, such as that dictated by the spread of coronavirus, our forces are more united than ever to ensure and optimize the performance of work activities”.

-Where Goes the Textile Waste?
A new sustainability initiative, Accelerating Circularity, announced that it is working with major apparel companies such as Gap Inc., Target Corp. and VF Corp. to chart ways to eliminate textile-industry waste and recycle it into new fibers and materials, according to a Feb. 25 announcement.
Accelerating Circularity’s mission will be to research and identify opportunities in apparel supply chains in order to make them circular, which means taking returned goods and items defined as waste materials and turning them into new textiles, Karla Magruder, the group’s lead, said.
-Trinseo Announces Price Decrease for Polystyrene in Europe
Trinseo (NYSE: TSE), a global materials company and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders and synthetic rubber, and its affiliate companies in Europe announced today a price decrease for all polystyrene (PS). Effective March 1, 2020, or as existing contract terms allow, the contract and spot prices for the products listed below will decrease as follows:
STYRON™ general purpose polystyrene grades (GPPS) by 65 Euro per metric ton
STYRON™ and STYRON A-Tech™, STYRON C-Tech™ and STYRON X- Tech™ high impact polystyrene grades (HIPS) by 65 Euro per metric ton
-China’s benzene demand weakens on COVID-19 outbreak
The COVID-19 outbreak has seen petrochemical units across China reduce output due to logistical restrictions.
Refined oil prices dropped sharply on weaker demand. Some refineries cut processing rate or closed processing units due to the epidemic, resulting in less benzene output.
Coal-based benzene output decreased apparently in Feb due to the logistical constraints, with the output loss estimated at about 130-140kt.
By end February, operating rate of benzene units in China was around 74.3%, and of coal-based benzene 48%. The figures had recovered slightly from mid-Feb with the gradual recovery in logistics.
Due to the run rate cuts of benzene downstream units, benzene demand form downstream derivatives was estimated at about 1 million tons, down 300kt from the average level in 2019.

ISPO Textrends is an annual guide to the most innovative products in performance wear compiled by an international panel of fabric experts and now in its eighth year.

The polyethylene terephthalate (PET) container industry is responding to this situation with a campaign that seeks to differentiate PET containers from other plastics.
NAPCOR (National Association for PET Container Resources), Charlotte, North Carolina, launched Positively PET, a campaign that has been in the planning stages for approximately a year and a half, earlier this year.

Indeed, the major brands – PepsiCo, Unilever, Nestlé, Mars, Coca Cola Company, to name a few – are challenging their suppliers to achieve the target of 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025.
