-Drug integrated polymer fibers market to cross US$88 million by 2025

Drug integrated polymer fibers market is expected to cross US$88.8 million by 2025 as per GMI Insights. Drug integrated polymer fibers are also called as pharmaceutical fibers and are generally made up of biocompatible and biodegradable materials such as polylactic acid and its different derivatives like polydioxanone, polyglycolic acid, polycaprolactone, poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid), PLLA and other copolymers. For medical textile device these fibers are generally available in braided, knitted and woven form. Drug integrated polymer fibers are extensively used in drug delivery, orthopaedics, healing of skin wound, vascular grafts, etc. Increase in research and development for innovative materials used in orthopedics and wound healing is expected to boost the global drug integrated polymer fibers market owing to increase in old age population across world. Developments in fiber based wound healing systems, biologics, pharmaceutical products along with significant growth in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine are driving the orthopedic medical products market which is expected to witness a rapid growth in drug integrated polymer fiber market during the forecast period. -Heimtextil 2020: International appeal continues to increase

This press release is submitted and shown here in its original form, unedited by Furniture Today.

The development in Heimtextil exhibitors over the past few years shows one thing clearly: while the German market is currently going through a challenging period and the number of producers and retailers is declining, Heimtextil in Frankfurt am Main is positioned as a world-leading platform with a strong international appeal. This trend is set to continue at the upcoming trade fair for home and contract textiles (7-10 January 2020). Petrochemicals Polyethylene Terephthalate

-PRESS releases new eco bottle made from 75 per cent recycled plastic

PRESS has released its new eco bottle made from 75 per cent recycled plastic (rPET) and 25 per cent bio plastic, made from sugar cane rather than fossil fuels.

The new bottles are 100 per cent recyclable and by using 75 per cent recycled plastic, the company is removing plastic that would otherwise end up in landfill.

On top of that, the manufacturing of recycled plastic produces 55 per cent less carbon emissions than virgin plastic. Petrochemicals Polyethylene Terephthalate

-India’s plastic consumption set to double in a decade

Uflex’s Ashok Chaturvedi at Elite Conference

“The future of plastics is very bright as its consumption is expected to continue to grow,” Ashok Chaturvedi, chairman and managing director of Uflex said at the 8th Speciality Films & Flexible Packaging Global Summit 2019 held in Mumbai on 22-23 August.

“Plastics have a very bright future. They are something that you cannot live without. If you look at India, about 26,000 metric tons of plastic is consumed every day. And the way the growth is being projected, in a decade or so the consumption will double to 50-55,000 metric tons a day. Plastics are not only used in flexible packaging but in various other industries as well,” Chaturvedi said.

He asserted that all kinds of flexible packaging, mono and multilayer, are recyclable, re-processable and then reusable.

-Closed loop system for woven polypropylene big bags – “circular packaging” at K

Starlinger will present a closed loop system for big bags made from woven polypropylene at K 2019.

The sustainable concept “circular packaging” will be Starlinger’s main theme. Worldwide, more than 380 million 4-loop big bags (called FIBCs– Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers) are sold every year; this equals an annual recycling potential of approx. 800,000 tons of material.

The well-known FIBC expert Dr. Amir Samadijavan acted as consultant for this project. The sustainable concept will be presented at K 2019 in Düsseldorf/Germany.

With “circular packaging”, Starlinger introduces K show visitors to an elaborate concept for a closed loop for big bags that begins with polypropylene granulate and leads back to polypropylene regranulate (rPP) through the process steps production, usage, recovery, and recycling. -US polyethylene contracts fall on supply

US August contracts for polyethylene (PE) were assessed 1 cent/lb ($22/tonne) lower from July on persistent supply length and weaker global demand.

The US PE market remains well supplied as the country is in the midst of a massive investment wave that has already resulted in the addition of over 4.7m tonnes/year of new capacity since 2017.

Domestic demand for PE has been steady, although disappointing demand growth from overseas markets created logistics problems for US producers, who export a significant percentage of their overall PE production.

Overseas demand has been blunted by ongoing trade tensions between the US and China, as well as signals of a possible economic recession around the world, which have resulted in lower raw material consumption in a number of major industrial segments.
