US President Donald Trump has approved the rollback of sanctions on numerous chemicals instituted as part of the country’s trade dispute with China by signing a bill to reduce the impact of import tariffs on domestic industry.
A variety of forms of plastics products are included in the list of over 1,600 Chinese products to see reduced or removed tariff burdens.

Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Bhd has denied claims of suspension of its integrated petrochemical facility (IPF) in Indonesia.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the company noted the project is currently at the final stage of the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) study. In parallel, Lotte Chemical has been working on the environmental impact assessment and undertaking other activities in relation to the IPF project.

The US tax reform is a huge threat to Canada, putting hundreds of thousands of jobs at risk, with petrochemicals and chemicals being particularly vulnerable, according to a study made available on Friday.
The study was commissioned by trade group Business Council of Canada which had asked consultants PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to estimate the impact of the US tax reform on Canada.

Seating supplier Adient named turnaround veteran Douglas DelGrosso as its next CEO, replacing former General Motors chief Frederick “Fritz” Henderson.
DelGrosso, 56, will take over as chief executive of the spun-off Johnson Controls Inc. unit on Oct. 1, the company said. He’s currently president and CEO at Chassix, a Southfield, Mich., supplier.
China’s domestic polyethylene (PE) prices may weaken in the near term because of ample supply and demand uncertainties amid the country’s trade war with the US.
On 12 September, linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) prices in south China were assessed at yuan (CNY) 9,550/tonne ($1,390/tonne) EXWH (ex-warehouse), down by 2.3% from 10 August, ICIS data showed. High density polyethylene (HDPE) injection prices fell to their lowest in more than five months at CNY10,000/tonne EXWH south China, down by 5.7% from 16 August, according to the data.

The EU is considering imposing anti-dumping duties (ADD) on urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) fertilizer imports from Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, and the US, according to an official transcript released late on Wednesday.
Antidumping dutiesThe European Commission – the EU’s executive body – received a complaint on 29 June from industry body Fertilizers Europe, which alleges UAN imports are being dumped into the European market, “thereby causing injury” to the 28-country bloc’s industry.
