MOSCOW – Consumer interest in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in the Persian Gulf region declined after rising prices for PET and raw materials last week, ICIS reports, citing market participants. Polyethylene Terephthalate PET Persian Gulf 

The spot PET prices in the region on CFR terms were USD1,130-1,180 per tonne per week ending December 6th, which is USD30-40 per tonne higher than a week earlier.

Some price proposals for materials of Asian origin were at the level of USD1,100 per tonne, CFR GCC on December 13th.

Prices for purified terephthalic acid (TFA) and monoethylene glycol (MEG) in the region also declined on December 13 compared with a week earlier.

Earlier it was reported that the price proposals of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in the Asian market rose sharply last week amid an increase in raw material prices.

Spot prices in the region were in the range of USD1 020-1 050 per ton, FOB China, and USD1 100-1 130 per ton, FOB India, in the week ending November 30.

According to the ICIS-MRC Price Review , in December, the cost of PET for Russian processors reached its lowest level in the second half of this year.

The sharp decline in prices in the Chinese market last week was replaced by growth.

The cost of PET for contract buyers in the Russian Federation this month will be in the range of 100 000-103 000 rubles.  per ton, CPT Moscow, including VAT.
