Asia did not reach agreement on paraxylene July contract prices
The participants in the negotiation process, by agreeing on the July contract prices of paraxylene in Asia, could not reach an agreement for the current month.
According to them, the approval of the monthly contractual price of the material is achieved when it is agreed by at least two suppliers and two buyers.
This is the fifth time this year when it is not possible to agree on contract prices for material in the region

-Sinopec and PetroChina Increase LDPE Prices in East China
China China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec), Asia’s largest oil refining company, and PetroChina, a subsidiary of the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), announced on July 1 that high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) prices were rising for China’s eastern region.
So, on July 1, Sinopec increased its LDPE prices on CNY100-200 to CNY8 750 per ton EXW (shipment from the plant), a company source said.
PetroChina, at the same time, separately increased LDPE prices on CNY150 to USD8,600 per ton EXW.
Supplies from major manufacturers are limited, since on June 27 Maoming Petrochemical closed its LDPE production. The same production was closed from 6 to 15 June.
-EFBW calls for improvements in plastic recycling infrastructure
The European Federation of Bottled Waters (EFBW) has called on European authorities to enhance the performance of recycling and sorting systems for beverage containers, in order to ensure the availability of high-quality recycled PET (rPET) in the EU.
Last year, EFBW members committed to collecting 90% of all PET bottles by 2025 as an EU average, ensuring that discarded plastic containers can be converted into rPET.
The EU also approved the implementation of the Single Use Plastics Directive in May, which set a 90% separate collection target for plastic beverage bottles by 2029.

PepsiCo plans to package its bottled water brand Lifewatr in 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) starting this year, the company says. The move should help the beverage giant advance its goal of using 25% recycled plastic content in all plastic packaging by 2025.
Besides the shift to 100% rPET packaging, PepsiCo says their sparkling water brand Bubly will no longer be packaged in plastic and their Aquafina water brand will offer aluminum can packaging in US food service outlets. Altogether, the 2019 packaging changes are expected to eliminate more than 8,000 metric tons of virgin plastic and around 11,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, according to the company.
-Evian unveils 100% rPET bottle in Wimbledon trial
Danone Waters has unveiled a 750ml Evian bottle made from 100% recycled plastic, which is being trialled at this year’s Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
The innovation is part of Evian’s commitment, made last year, to ensure all its bottles are 100% rPET by 2025, by which time the brand aims to be a fully circular business globally.
To mark the launch of the new sustainable pack, Evian was working with Wimbledon’s All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club to shine “a spotlight on recycling infrastructure and behaviour” the brand said. Polymers Petrochemicals LDPE Bioplastic
-Iraq will not offer Basrah Medium crude until Fao project complete: minister
Iraq’s long-mooted introduction of a Basrah Medium crude grade is contingent on the much-delayed expansion of the Fao export depot on the Persian Gulf, oil minister Thamir al-Ghadhban said.
Iraq’s State Oil Marketing Organization announced last year that it was mulling the launch of Basrah Medium, which would stabilize the quality of its current grades on offer — Basrah Heavy and Basrah Light — as more production is sourced from lower-quality oil deposits.
-IRENEX to hold offering of 2m barrels of light crude oil on Tuesday
This will be the 12th round of light crude offering in IRENEX and the fifth round of offerings in the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 20, 2019).
Since the U.S.’s withdrew from Iran’s nuclear pact in May 2018, vowing to drive Iran’s oil exports down to zero, the Islamic Republic has been taking various measures to counter the U.S. actions and to keep its oil exports levels as high as possible.
One of the main strategies that Iran chose to execute to help its oil exports afloat has been trying new ways to diversify the mechanism of oil sales, one of which is offering oil at the country’s stock market.Polymers Petrochemicals LDPE Bioplastic
-Henkel partners with greiner packaging to release recyclable black plastic packaging
Black plastic packaging materials pose a challenge for the recycling value chain on account of the colour used in them to date, as they cannot be properly identified and sorted by the optical sensors at waste sorting facilities.
Henkel has partnered with its supplier Ampacet, a global masterbatch producer, to implement a solution for fully recyclable black plastic packaging. The new packaging material is based on an alternative, carbon-free black colour, allowing used bottles to be returned to the value chain.
-Prym Fashion unveils eco-friendly clothing snaps made from plants and recycled bottles
The fashion industry is well-known for wasteful practices in manufacturing, including excessive water consumption and chemical run-off.
The fast fashion trend has lead to massive amounts of clothing waste that are not worthy of donating or recycling.
In many cases, sourcing materials is a matter of finding what is cheap regardless of the effect on the planet. However, Prym Fashion takes materials seriously with a laser focus on every detail, right down to the snap on your favorite shirt.Polymers Petrochemicals LDPE Bioplastic
