-ITA shows Demonstrator Light Textiles at Techtextil 2019
The Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University (ITA) is currently showing its expertise in field of ambient lighting at Techtextil 2019 in Frankfurt, Germany. ITA is displaying Demonstrator Light Textiles that shows a new type of energy storage system for furniture applications, efficient textile products and new materials for aerospace applications.
With the Demonstrator Light Textiles, ITA shows an illuminated textile by using light-guiding fibres and polymer optical fibres (POF). This is ideally suited to design illuminated surfaces in the interior, e.g in the automotive or home sector. This textile solution offers a flexible, drapable surface with a soft, pleasant feel in a limited space, said ITA in a press release. ITA provides the fibre and process development. The key partner is Mentor GmbH & Co Präzisions-Bauteile KG in Erkrath, Germany.
-Compounders key to increase use of recycled material
Cleveland — Compounders will play a key role in recycled plastics in the more circular economy of the future because they can target materials for specific end-use applications, according to exhibitors at a trio of trade shows in Cleveland.
The show, held May 8-9, brought together compounders, recyclers and companies through the event that served as the Compounding World Expo, Plastics Recycling World Expo and Plastics Extrusion Expo. Applied Market Information LLC organized the trade show. Polymers Petrochemicals Renewable Plastics
-PGPrints Shows Latest Developments at ITMA Barcelona 2019
Will be giving live demonstrations of its second generation PIKE single-pass digital textile printing machine.
At ITMA 2019, SPGPrints will be giving live demonstrations of its second generation PIKE single-pass digital textile printing machine printing on viscose fabric with reactive inks. Based on the PIKE’s established image quality performance combining the industry’s highest resolution of 1200 dpi with the smallest droplets and lowest ink consumption, attendees can now come and see the new PIKE printing at considerably higher speeds than before while producing the best deep black blotches ever created in the industry.
-Bruckner to display latest textile machinery at ITMA17
Bruckner will display latest textile machinery at ITMA 2019 expo. The leading textile and garment technology exhibition will be held from June 20-26, 2019, in Barcelona, Spain. The company develops, produces, and distributes machines and lines for the coating and finishing of apparel fabric, technical textiles, nonwovens, glass fabrics, and floor coverings.
The topic of digitisation and Industry 4.0 opens up completely new possibilities for increasing productivity, reducing the use of resources and improving quality. In addition, an increasing shortage of skilled workers can be addressed by more intelligent software. Brückner has invested, developed, and implemented a lot in this area in recent years, the company said in a press release.
–Taiwan’s machinery makers prepare for plastic bans
Sustainability Asia Food service Recycling Machinery
Some single-use plastics, like PET water bottles, serve a good purpose, said Peter Pan, vice general manager for Chumpower Machinery Corp.
Chumpower is a blow molding bottle machine maker in Taichung, the industrial hotbed in the central part of the country. A lot of Chumpower’s customers use its machines to make shampoo bottles or other cosmetics, but they also sell many systems to make water bottles.
“From our understanding, Europeans have started to ban plastics. And maybe PET bottles. Our thinking is different,” Pan said at the company’s headquarters. “In the world, everyone has the right to drink clean water. In Europe and the U.S., they are very good countries so they can drink tap water, no problem. Maybe they don’t need bottled water.” Polymers Petrochemicals Renewable Plastics
-Crude oil aims for biggest weekly advance since early April, as Persian Gulf tensions grow
The global benchmark has risen more than 2% so far this week, while New York futures edged higher by 2.2%. Tensions in the Middle East are increasing as Saudi Arabia accused Iran of being behind the attack on its pumping stations. That follows separate attacks to oil tankers in the area. Yet, Friday’s rally remains limited as China’s state media signaled a lack of interest in resuming trade talks with the U.S.
Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran have helped support crude prices, yet the market’s reaction has been “pretty measured,” said John Kilduff, partner at Again Capital LLC, a New York hedge fund focused on energy. That’s as “the deterioration of the U.S.-China trade situation is a big negative for crude and a big negative for the Asian economy.” Polymers Petrochemicals Renewable Plastics

Austrian spinning manufacturer will use this technology to guarantee transparency and traceability of its material to make fibers.
Lenzing gains ground within sustainability thanks to the blockchain. Austrian yarn manufacturer pretends to implement this technology to the materials of their brand Tenceltm, in order to secure transparency and traceability of all its products to manufacturers and brands that use their threads.
The company, based in the Austrian city of Lenzing, has allied with Hong Kong’s technological company TextileGenesis to develop the platform after performing various test with other corporations, as stated by the group on a statement.
-Unilever unveils ‘detectable and recyclable’ black plastic packaging
Consumer goods giant Unilever has today (17 May) unveiled a new pigment which makes black plastics detectable by recycling equipment, as it strives to boost the recyclability of its packaging portfolio.
The innovative material will be phased in across Unilever’s TRESemme and Lynx brands by the end of the year
The innovative material will be phased in across Unilever’s TRESemme and Lynx brands by the end of the year
Black plastic packaging is not recyclable through kerbside collections in the UK, or in most other European nations, as its carbon content prevents it from being detected by the infra-red sorting systems used in reprocessing facilities.
-BASF Starts Up Expanded Compounding Plant in Mexico
