Purified terephthalic acid China
Prices of imported TPA in China are growing
MOSCOW – Prices of imported purified terephthalic acid (TPA) in China are rising, following the rise in material prices in the domestic market, ICIS reports, citing sources in the market.
So, on April 8, deals on imported TPA in China were concluded at the level of USD850-860 per ton, CFR CMP, as compared to prices at USD830-850 per ton, CMP CFR on April 4.
Domestic prices for TFC in China on April 8 were CNY6 742-6 804 per tonne, EXWH, compared to CNY6 424-6 570 per tonne, EXWH as of April 4, according to ICIS data.
Earlier it was reported that the prices of PFCs in the Chinese market began to grow when the schedules for carrying out repair work at several large PFC factories were approved, which would lead to a reduction in the supply of material in the near future.
Nevertheless, some market players are concerned that the large variation between the paraxylene and TFC quotes will lead to the fact that TFC plants will operate with high capacity utilization, and preventive measures will be postponed.
According to the ICIS-MRC Price Review , with the onset of April, the cost of PET for formula clients in Russia has not changed. The spot prices for the majority of buyers remained either unchanged or slightly increased for smaller processors. Contract prices are in the range of 95,000–98,000 rubles. per ton, CPT Moscow, including VAT, spot – 102 000-106 000 rubles. per ton, CPT Moscow, including VAT.
