TOSAF, Inc. is open for business

TOSAF, Inc. is now open after months of anticipation, and they bring with them the possibility of dozens of local jobs in the future.

TOSAF, Inc. is a worldwide plastics compound plant located in Bessemer City that has been in the process of building since last fall. Essentially, the business colors pieces of plastic for companies that will then shape that plastic into the every day items we use, according to Malissa Gordon, existing industry manager with the Gaston County Economic Development Commission (EDC).

“You see their product everywhere,” she said.

The Israeli-based business officially opened its doors on Tuesday in SouthRidge Business Park, after which they gave tours to locals interested in learning more about the process.

The EDC is partially responsible for bringing the new business to the area, along with other community partners like Gaston College, Gaston County Board of Commissioners, Bessemer City, Duke Energy, Norfolk Southern and more local organization. Gordon explained the EDC is responsible for attracting businesses to the local area and working with them to have them move here.

This process started three years ago for TOSAF, Inc., and when they first began discussions of moving here they created a plan for a total of 75 employees to work in the plant. Currently, there are only 20, meaning they could be filling dozens of positions very soon, Gordon said.

TOSAF, Inc. already operates in 10 other countries, but the Bessmer City location is their first American plant.
