Treofan introduces new IML label film for food and packaging applications

Treofan, a provider specialty biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, has introduced new IML label film for brand manufacturers and converters in the food and packaging industry.

The  film has specifically been developed for the production of in-mould labels, which can be used for PP and PE injection molding applications.

With advanced antistatic, web flatness and machinability features, the EWR is suitable for offset sheet-fed printing with UV curing and oxidative drying inks as well as gravure and UV-flexo printing.

The new version of EWR IML label film is provided with a thickness of 50μm for enhanced efficiency and larger surface yield.

The average surface yield has been increased to 20.8 m²/kg compared to 18.3 m²/kg in the earlier EWR57 film.

Treofan product management and business development head Joachim Jung said: “The new EWR50 is geared towards the increasing market demands in terms of efficiency and yield combined with excellent quality.”

UK label printer Reflex Labels manager Mark Taylor said: : “The new EWR50 impresses with superior production performance: The moulding reject rate is significantly reduced compared to competitive IML products.”

Treofan produces BOPP films that can be used in packaging, labels and technical applications.

With operations in over 90 countries, Treofan supplies its BOPP films to the FMCG brand manufactures and their converters, in addition to the customers in tobacco and electrical industries.
