The US is preparing new duties for China at USD100 billion

USA new duties China USD100 billion MOSCOW – US President Donald Trump intends to impose additional duties on Chinese imports up to USD100 billion in connection with the policy of the Chinese authorities forcing American companies to share technology, ICIS reports.

The corresponding instruction was given to the US Trade Representative Robert Laitheiser, who should consider this possibility. To these activities, Trump wants to resort “in the light of China’s unfair and appropriate measures.”

Earlier, the US published a list of 1,333 Chinese goods, import of which in the amount of USD50 billion is proposed to impose a 25% duty.

The State Council of China also approved a 25% duty on 106 US goods for $ 50 billion, including cars, petrochemicals and beans. China has 44 petrochemical products, including butene-based polyethylene, polycarbonate (PC), epoxy resin, acrylonitrile (ACN), and others.

About 18% of all Chinese exports are sold in the US.

Earlier it was reported that the introduction of anti-dumping duties on the import of phenol to China could change trade flows and reduce the volume of imports. The Ministry of Commerce of China on March 26 began to investigate the import of phenol from the US, the European Union, South Korea, Japan and Thailand. It is expected that the investigation will be completed before March 26, 2019, but may be extended for another six months, the ministry said.
