Wittmann launches new G-Max 23 granulator

Wittmann has launched a new granulator G-Max 23 under its G-Max series of conventional blade granulators.

Wittmann GMax 23 granulatorThe new model will complement other granulators in the G-Max series including G-Max 12, G-Max 33.

The latest model is claimed to be a flexible, custom-made, belt-driven compact granulator.

It is designed for closed-loop recycling of sprues/ runners from injection moulding machines with a clamping force of 240 tonnes.

G-Max 23 is a portal machine that offers versatility and it can be moved easily from one moulding machine to another.

Wittmann claims that the machine consumes less energy, while being equipped with sound insulation for the cutting chamber. Thus, it can significantly reduce noise level. The machine can run from an IE2 motor for high energy efficiency and offers a granulating throughput of 80kg/hr.

The machine can be operated using a remote control, replacing fixed electrical control panel. These new standard features are claimed to be not available on traditional granulator designs.

The machine has an electronic interface enables full communication with injection moulding machine and the machine comes with an option of special shutdown function.  When the injection moulding machine is turned ‘off’, the granulator stops automatically, helping save energy.

G-Max 23 also comes with a hybrid rotor that has 3×2 knives with open spaces between the rotating knives at the centre of the shaft. This offers unrestricted air-flow through a large 310 × 235mm cutting chamber, thus cooling the hot materials.

The new model is also claimed to be ideal in granulating heat-sensitive resins or feedstock which is still warm from processing.

Collection bin for the granulator has been made from stainless steel and it has a capacity of 13 litres, thus reducing the need for regrind storage area beside the press.
