At PackMach Asia 2025 in Mumbai, the Ahmedabad-based company highlighted its expanding capabilities in virgin PET resin and rPET, underlining its long-term commitment to sustainability, regulatory readiness, and diversified growth across packaging segments.

With packaging regulations tightening and brand owners prioritising recyclability, PET resin continues to play a central role in rigid packaging applications. Chiripal Polyfilms is positioning itself to meet this rising demand by scaling production, investing in recycling infrastructure, and aligning its portfolio with circular economy goals.

From resin manufacturer to integrated packaging materials player

Established around 11 years ago, Chiripal Polyfilms has evolved rapidly from a focused resin producer into an integrated packaging materials company. Today, its manufacturing capabilities span BOPP films, polyester films, aluminium foil, and PET resin, serving both flexible and rigid packaging markets across India.

The company operates multiple manufacturing facilities strategically located to support regional demand and operational efficiency. Its plants in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Jammu collectively cater to a wide range of packaging requirements, from textiles and films to bottle-grade applications. This integrated setup allows Chiripal Polyfilms to maintain quality control, optimise supply chains, and respond quickly to changing market needs.

Manufacturing footprint supporting PET resin growth

The Ahmedabad facility remains the backbone of Chiripal Polyfilms’ operations. It houses large-scale production of BOPP films, polyester films, and PET resin, including textile-grade, film-grade, and bottle-grade variants. This site plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s growing PET resin portfolio, particularly for preform manufacturers supplying bottles and rigid packaging formats.

Hyderabad complements this capacity with dedicated BOPP and polyester film lines, strengthening the company’s flexible packaging presence. Meanwhile, the Jammu facility represents a significant strategic addition. Operational for about a year, this plant has emerged as a key hub for rPET production, alongside BOPP films and aluminium foil manufacturing.

rPET investment aligned with sustainability and regulation

Chiripal Polyfilms’ investment in rPET reflects a broader industry shift toward recycled content in packaging. The Jammu facility has an rPET production capacity of around 36,000 tons per year, translating to nearly 100 tons per day. This scale enables the company to support brand owners preparing for upcoming mandates on recycled content usage.

Government regulations are expected to require 30–40% recycled content in select packaging applications, making rPET a critical material for future compliance. As a virgin PET resin producer, Chiripal Polyfilms views recycling not only as a business opportunity but also as a responsibility to reduce environmental impact and close the material loop.

Market dynamics shaping PET resin demand

Across the packaging landscape, PET resin demand continues to be dominated by beverages, which account for an estimated 50–60% or more of overall consumption. Bottled water, carbonated drinks, and other beverages remain the primary drivers of volume growth, especially in India’s expanding consumer market.

At the same time, other segments are gradually exploring PET-based solutions. Cosmetics, household products, and laboratory applications are beginning to adopt PET resin for containers and specialised formats. While volumes in these categories remain modest, they indicate a slow but steady diversification of end-use applications beyond traditional beverage packaging.

Commodity segments such as milk packaging continue to see limited innovation, but specialty and value-added applications are gaining traction as converters and brand owners seek performance, clarity, and recyclability advantages offered by PET resin.

Scaling up virgin PET resin capacity

Over the years, Chiripal Polyfilms has significantly scaled its virgin PET resin production. From an initial output of around 5,000 tons per month, the company has expanded to approximately 1.5 lakh tons annually. This growth reflects sustained investment in technology, capacity, and operational efficiency.

The Ahmedabad plant alone contributes a substantial share, with total PET resin capacity of about 2.2 kilotons covering textile-grade, film-grade, and bottle-grade materials. Bottle-grade virgin PET resin production currently stands at roughly 400 tons, catering to preform manufacturers supplying India’s fast-growing rigid packaging market.

Looking ahead, the company is actively evaluating plans to further expand both virgin PET resin and rPET capacity. Doubling PET resin output is among the options under consideration, signalling confidence in long-term demand fundamentals.

Strong response at PackMach Asia 2025

At PackMach Asia 2025, Chiripal Polyfilms received strong interest from converters and brand owners, particularly around rPET solutions. Many customers are currently in the trial and evaluation phase, assessing material performance, food-contact suitability, and supply reliability ahead of regulatory enforcement.

The exhibition highlighted how rPET has become one of the most discussed materials in the packaging industry, driven by a combination of regulation, sustainability commitments, and consumer awareness. Chiripal Polyfilms’ ability to supply both virgin PET resin and rPET positions it as a strategic partner for customers navigating this transition.

Diversification beyond packaging

Beyond packaging materials, the Chiripal Group continues to diversify its business interests. Alongside textiles, education, construction, and packaging, the group has entered the renewable energy sector through solar panel manufacturing. Under its group company GREW Solar, based in Rajasthan, Chiripal is expanding into clean energy, reinforcing its broader sustainability narrative.
