Grace Licenses Additional UNIPOL® Polypropylene Process Technology to BPCL
BPCL has expanded its licensing agreements with Grace, incorporating the renowned non-phthalate CONSISTA® catalysts to boost production capacity by 950 kilotons at its Kochi and Bina refineries.
W. R. Grace & Co. (Grace), the world’s leading independent supplier of polypropylene (PP) process technology and polyolefin catalyst technology, announced that Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), India’s second-largest oil marketing company, has extended its licenses for Grace’s UNIPOL® PP process technology. BPCL plans to deploy this technology using CONSISTA® catalysts in a new 400 kilotons per annum (KTA) reactor unit in Kochi, Kerala, and a 550 KTA reactor unit in Bina, Madhya Pradesh.
Thomas Deman, President, Specialty Catalysts, Supply Chain and Procurement at Grace, commented: “The expansion of these licenses highlights the benefits BPCL gains from collaborating with Grace. Our process technology and catalysts will enable the production of a broad range of high-quality polypropylene resins. Additionally, our expertise will help optimize BPCL’s reactors to meet India’s increasing demand. Grace is honored to support BPCL in this endeavor.” Chemical recycling
Polymer prices: Downward price trend continues as monomer costs fall
The downward trend in polymer prices is influenced by falling monomer costs.
For instance, L/LDPE and HDPE prices have decreased by €10/tonne by mid-June, following a €30/tonne drop in ethylene prices.
Similarly, polypropylene prices have fallen in line with propylene costs over the last two months Chemical recycling
