Ascend’s portfolio of PA66 resins and compounds are ideal choices for OEMs looking for light-weighting solutions because of their high temperature and hydrolysis resistance properties. Ascend Performance Vydyne Products  Automotive

When combined with other lighter weight materials used in engine systems, a car’s weight and fuel efficiency can greatly be improved while ensuring resistance to common problems such as protracted exposure to hot oil, hot air, road salt, coolants and other automotive chemicals.Ascend Performance Vydyne Products  Automotive

Representatives from Ascend will be on hand to discuss PA66 automotive innovations, including:

  • Vydyne® J Series featuring glass-filled, electrically neutral grades that are halogen-free and heat stabilized to withstand continuous use temperatures in excess of 155°C. The grades feature improved dielectric resistance ideal for use in hybrid and electric vehicles. Ascend’s J grades also offer OEMs low plate-out and increased melt flow.
  • Vydyne® R530HR features best-in-class hydrolysis-aging performance for demanding automotive cooling system applications which can exceed stringent, high-end OEM hydrolysis-aging requirements.
  • Vydyne® heat-stabilized, impact-modified PA66 offers a balance of strength and stiffness with good lubricity and elasticity. Vydyne® 47H was the product of choice used for a push-to-release fastener for Ford Motor Company’s 2015 Mustang which was a recipient of the 2015 SPE Innovation Award in the Body Exterior Category.

Ryan Hensarling, PhD and Shawn Osborn, PhD, part of Ascend’s nylon technology team, will present a paper about emerging trends within the automotive market at AutoEpcon.

The primary focus will be demonstrating how Ascend’s new Vydyne J Series resins are ideal for the increasing demand of hybrid and electric vehicles.

The Vydyne J Series resins are electrically-neutral, inhibit corrosion at the metal/plastic interface, and are optimized for high flow, allowing for thinner part thicknesses.

“We continue to invest in research and development to better serve our customers in the automobile industry,” said Phil Jeszke, global automotive segment leader.

“The global auto industry is facing a number of regulatory and technological changes in the coming years, and we look forward to helping our customers stay ahead of the curve.”

The ITB Advanced Thermal Management conference will take place at The Baronette Renaissance Detroit-Novi Hotel in Novi, Michigan on April 27.

AutoEpcon will take place May 2, at the Detroit Marriott Troy in Troy, Michigan.
