RadiciGroup and Ferragamo Team Up for an Eco-Design Project: The Nova Bag
Project Overview
RadiciGroup, a global leader in sustainable textile solutions, has partnered with Ferragamo to create “Nova – The evolution of a Star”. This eco-design project reinvents one of Ferragamo’s most iconic handbags through the principles of circularity and responsible fashion.
The project was officially unveiled on September 30 during the launch of the Circular Fashion Manifesto 2025, a declaration signed by 27 fashion companies aimed at setting new European benchmarks for sustainability in the fashion industry.
The Circular Fashion Initiative
Nova was developed within the framework of the Monitor for Circular Fashion (M4CF), an observatory led by SDA Bocconi School of Management.
The initiative brings together companies, institutions, and key stakeholders from the TCLF sector (Textile, Clothing, Leather, Footwear) to accelerate the adoption of circular business models. Sustainability
By combining academic research with industry expertise, M4CF provides a platform for experimentation and innovation—helping brands like Ferragamo and RadiciGroup lead the transition toward sustainable and circular fashion.
Eco-Design Process of Nova
The Nova bag was the result of a collaborative eco-design process that united multiple industrial partners:
- Radici Yarn (RadiciGroup) – Textile solutions
- Conceria Antiba – Leather with vegetable tanning
- ICEC and UNIC – Certification bodies
- Temera – Digital identity integration Sustainability
Every step of the design was shaped by three guiding principles: traceability, chemical safety, and durability. The result is a handbag that balances aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability.
Sustainable Materials & Innovation
A central feature of Nova is its use of renewable, bio-based materials:
- Biofeel® eleven yarn – a 100% bio-based textile derived from castor oil, produced by Radici Yarn.
- Vegetable-tanned leather – provided by Conceria Antiba with certified traceability.
- Glue-free and metal-free assembly – reducing environmental impact while enhancing recyclability.
Even packaging was rethought: its volume was reduced by 60%, minimizing resource use and carbon emissions during logistics. Sustainability
Impact and Results
The Nova bag demonstrates how luxury can align with sustainability without compromise. Through radiocarbon C14 testing, it was confirmed that 84.3% of its total weight comes from renewable biological sources. This is a measurable step forward in the integration of bio-based content within high-end fashion.
“Nova is a concrete example of how aesthetics, innovation, and sustainability can coexist.”
Voices from the Project
Filippo Bona, R&D Manager Apparel & Technical at RadiciGroup, emphasized the significance of the collaboration:
“It was a pleasure and an honour to take part in this innovative eco-design project. Our work focused on selecting materials that are both high-performing and environmentally responsible. Biofeel® eleven, derived from castor oil, shows that strength, lightness, and sustainability can exist in harmony with social responsibility values.” Sustainability
The Future of Circular Fashion
Beyond its technical achievements, Nova illustrates the power of supply chain collaboration in driving sustainable innovation. By engaging textile producers, leather suppliers, certifiers, and technology partners, the project highlights the importance of ecosystem-driven change.
As part of the Monitor for Circular Fashion, Nova joins a broader European movement that seeks to redefine textile, leather, and footwear production. Its principles will likely serve as inspiration for upcoming collections and contribute to building industry-wide best practices in circular design. Sustainability

RadiciGroup at K 2025: Innovation and Sustainability in Partnership with Customers
Introduction
RadiciGroup, a global leader in the production of polyamide polymers and engineering polymers, is setting the stage for the future of sustainable materials. At K 2025, the world’s largest trade fair for plastics and rubber, the company is showcasing innovations that bridge performance, safety, and sustainability.
Running from 8 to 15 October 2025 in Düsseldorf, the exhibition brings together the global industry to highlight advancements in materials science, circular economy, and industrial applications. For RadiciGroup, this is not only a showcase but also a platform to strengthen partnerships with customers across multiple strategic sectors.
RadiciGroup at K 2025
Located in Hall 6 – Stand B10, RadiciGroup is presenting its updated portfolio of lower-environmental-impact solutions and high-performance polymers. The company’s approach goes beyond supplying products: it aims to create tailor-made solutions in close collaboration with customers.
“Our participation at the K fair highlights RadiciGroup’s ability to offer tailor-made materials and services for various industrial sectors, from automotive to consumer goods,” explained Erico Spini, Global Marketing Manager of RadiciGroup High Performance Polymers. Sustainability
Focus on Strategic Markets
RadiciGroup’s innovations target industries with growing demand for sustainable, high-performance materials. Strategic markets include:
