-Half of companies ignore carbon impact of plastic alternatives: Survey

Just under half (49%) of businesses have not examined the carbon impact of single-use plastic alternatives, despite growing pressure for companies to improve the sustainability and recyclability of product packaging in light of the climate crisis.

In contrast, 39% of the 287 respondents said their organisation had looked into the environmental effects of single-use plastic alternatives, and 34% said their organisation had publicly set a target to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics.

-VNPOLY, SSFC team up for yarn production

-Ecover relaunches biodegradable detergents in PCR plastic

Ecover is relaunching its biodegradable, plant-based laundry detergents.

The new variants – Bio, Colour and Dark – are packaged in bottles made from 100% post-consumer recycled PET plastic – widely recyclable.

-TerraCycle announces new partnerships

The company has partnered with PopSockets and The Clorox Co.’s Glad business in January to launch new recycling programs.Additives Circular Economy ReNylon 

Trenton, New Jersey-based TerraCycle has announced it has entered into new partnerships with Boulder, Colorado-based PopSockets and Oakland, California-based The Clorox Co.’s Glad business this January to launch new recycling programs.

With PopSockets, which makes expandable phone grips, mobile tech and lifestyle accessories, TerraCycle is creating a free recycling program for PopSockets products, packaging and cellphone cases, TerraCycle reports in a news release on the partnership.

-Italy worst textile polluter in Europe, UK 4th: study

Italy ranks as the worst textile polluter in Europe, with the country producing 466 tonnes of textile waste every year, according to new research from sustainable fashion brand LABFRESH, which found Italians spend a proportionately large amount on new clothing each year, at £920 per person. The United Kingdom ranked as the fourth worst offender.Additives Circular Economy ReNylon 

The United Kingdom’s total textile waste is less than half that of Italy, at 206 tonnes per year. Brits spend a similar annual sum on clothing to their Italian counterparts—at £980—despite the country’s gross domestic product per capita being 25 per cent higher.

A one-year-old Chinese boy has taught a litter bug a lesson by picking up a plastic bottle thrown onto the pavement by the driver through the car window.

It is likely that the boy thought the driver had dropped the bottle by accident and was trying to help, according to his mother.
