-Lenzing Announces First Virgin Lyocell From Post-Consumer Cotton
After the September announcement of an upgraded Refibra technology that increased upcycled cotton-scrap pulp composition, Lenzing, Austria–headquartered Lenzing revealed another advancement with the product.
Building upon the existing process that relies on the upcycling of pre-consumer cotton scraps, which are a byproduct of cotton production, the company announced that it had increased up to 30 percent the composition of upcycled cotton-scrap pulp used in the product. On Dec. 3, it announced the completion of its second phase, which allows for up to 10 percent of post-consumer cotton waste to be used in manufacturing.
-Italy backtracks on plastic tax

In an amendment made to the 2020 budget bill on Thursday, the government halved its planned tariff on plastics and excluded products that contain recycled and biodegradable plastic.
The tax has now been set at 50 cents per kilogram of plastic product instead of €1.
The law will also now exclude all medical devices and containers, not just syringes, as was written in the first draft.

Germany’s INEOS Styrolution and US-based Agilyx are advancing the development of a polystyrene (PS) chemical recycling facility in Channahon, Illinois, capable of processing up to 100 tonnes/day of post-consumer PS, the companies said on Monday.
The facility will chemically treat post-consumer plastic waste contaminated with food and other organics and convert it back into new, food-grade plastic products or packaging.

Crude oil prices were up early Tuesday supported by a top U.S. official’s comments on positive trade talks between the U.S. and China on Monday.
The trade talks between the world’s two largest economies are “heading in a good direction,” the White House adviser Jared Kushner said.
However, he confirmed that he did not know what decision the U.S. President Donald Trump, who is also his father-in-law, would make.
-ADNOC AND RELIANCE SIGN FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT FOR POTENTIAL ETHYLENE DICHLORIDE PLANT
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC; www.adnoc.ae) signed a Framework Agreement with Reliance Industries Ltd.(RIL; Mumbai, India; www.ril.com) to explore development of an Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) facility in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi.
Under the terms of the agreement, ADNOC and RIL will evaluate the potential creation of a facility that manufactures EDC adjacent to ADNOC’s integrated refining and petrochemical site in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi and strengthen the companies’ existing relationship supporting future collaboration in petrochemicals.
