A new EU directive aimed at tackling plastic waste may lead to major changes to Finland’s bottle return system, according to Palpa, the company responsible for the collection, recycling and reuse of beverage packages.

Södra has found a way to convert large volumes of used cotton and blended fabrics into new clothing and textiles. The technique can separate cotton and polyester in polycotton blends, which are one of the most widely used textiles in the market. One of the major obstacles to textile recycling is that the fabrics are often made from blended materials. At present, no one in the world can recycle fibres from blended fabrics on a large scale. Södra’s solution will enable circular flows in the fashion and textile industry.

Coca-Cola Australia and Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) announced on Monday that all of its soft drink and water brands, 600ml and below, are now being produced from 100 per cent recycled plastic.
Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Mount Franklin and Pump are all part of the recycled plastic project which was announced by Coca-Cola Amatil in June this year.
