NextChem Expands NX Replast Recycling Technology Across Africa and Asia 2 Markets

NextChem pushes global expansion of advanced recycling solutions

NextChem is strengthening its international footprint by exporting its NX Replast recycling technology to emerging markets in Africa and Asia. This move reflects a broader strategic push to scale advanced plastic recycling solutions globally, particularly in regions where waste management infrastructure is rapidly evolving.

At the core of this expansion is the NX Replast recycling technology, a mechanical upcycling process designed to transform polyolefin waste into high-quality reusable materials. Already operational in Italy, the technology is now being evaluated for deployment in South Africa and Southeast Asia through newly awarded feasibility studies.

Italy as a technological and industrial benchmark

The NX Replast recycling technology is currently implemented at the Bedizzole plant in the province of Brescia, operated by MyReplast Industries, a subsidiary of NextChem. This facility serves both as an industrial recycling hub and as a demonstration center for potential international licensees.

The plant has recently undergone expansion, reinforcing its role as a reference point for partners interested in adopting NX Replast recycling technology. By showcasing real-world performance, the site enables stakeholders to assess scalability, efficiency, and output quality under operational conditions.

Two feasibility studies signal strong international demand

NextChem has secured two major feasibility studies aimed at deploying NX Replast recycling technology in new markets. These projects highlight growing global interest in advanced mechanical recycling solutions.

The first study focuses on South Africa, where a facility with a processing capacity of approximately 25,000 tons of end-of-life polyolefin materials per year is under evaluation. The plant is designed to produce high-quality recycled compounds suitable for both industrial and consumer applications.

The second feasibility study targets Southeast Asia, with a larger proposed capacity of 40,000 tons annually. Although the exact country has not been disclosed, the initiative underscores the region’s increasing commitment to sustainable waste management solutions powered by NX Replast recycling technology.

Engineering precision and process optimization

Each feasibility study includes a comprehensive assessment of process configuration, cost structure, and preliminary engineering design. This ensures that NX Replast recycling technology can be adapted to local conditions while maintaining high performance standards.

A defining feature of NX Replast recycling technology is its integration of advanced sorting, treatment, and compounding processes. Waste materials are carefully separated by polymer type and color, improving input quality and enhancing final output consistency.

Predictive algorithms play a crucial role in optimizing formulations, reducing the number of extruder runs required during production. This not only increases efficiency but also lowers operational costs, making NX Replast recycling technology a competitive solution in diverse markets.

High yield and premium recycled materials

One of the most compelling advantages of NX Replast recycling technology is its ability to deliver high yields. MyReplast reports a recovery rate of approximately 95 percent, significantly higher than traditional recycling methods.

The output consists of premium recycled granules that can be used across multiple industries. These materials meet stringent quality standards, enabling their application in both industrial manufacturing and consumer products.

This performance positions NX Replast recycling technology as a key enabler of circular economy models, where waste is transformed into valuable resources rather than discarded.

Strategic role in new recycling hubs

Beyond international expansion, NX Replast recycling technology is also being integrated into new infrastructure projects within Italy. One notable example is the recycling hub under development in Modena by Aliplast, part of the Hera Group.

This facility, with a planned capacity of up to 30,000 tons per year, will focus on recycling rigid polyolefin packaging waste. The selection of NX Replast recycling technology for this project reinforces its credibility and effectiveness in large-scale applications.

Proven track record beyond Europe

The global viability of NX Replast recycling technology is further demonstrated by its implementation outside Europe. A previous deployment by GCB Polymers in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, confirmed the adaptability of the process to different regulatory and environmental contexts.

This international experience provides NextChem with valuable insights that support the successful transfer of NX Replast recycling technology to Africa and Asia. It also strengthens the company’s positioning as a reliable partner for sustainable industrial development.

A scalable solution for the circular economy

According to NextChem leadership, the new contracts validate the global relevance of NX Replast recycling technology. The platform is increasingly recognized as a scalable and cost-effective solution for advanced plastic upcycling.

By combining engineering expertise with innovative process design, NextChem is enabling partners to build high-impact sustainability roadmaps. The flexibility of NX Replast recycling technology allows it to be tailored to specific market needs while maintaining consistent performance.

Outlook: accelerating global adoption

The expansion of NX Replast recycling technology into Africa and Asia marks a significant step toward addressing global plastic waste challenges. As regulatory pressure and environmental awareness continue to grow, demand for efficient recycling solutions is expected to increase.

NextChem’s strategy positions NX Replast recycling technology at the forefront of this transition. With proven results, strong industrial backing, and growing international interest, the technology is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable materials management.
