-Bioplastic Packaging Market Scope and Growing Demands 2019 | Koninklijke DSM N.V., NatureWorks, LLC, Metabolix, Inc

Statistics show that plastics are currently the third most commonly used byproducts from the oil and gas industry and the global consumption rate of plastics has crossed 200 mn tons per year. Petrochemical PEF Carbon Fibers

Several countries are banning the use of conventional plastic bags. Massive deposits of plastics in the ocean are responsible for the large scale death of marine and aerial species due to either ingestion or by getting stuck in them.

Nations, individuals, and private agencies are protesting very strongly against the large scale use of plastics, while promoting the use of biodegradable plastics, or bioplastics.

-OPEC, Non-OPEC Agree on Deeper Oil Output Cut

OPEC and OPEC+ have cut their collective production by 1.2 million bpd since January 2018 in a bid to counter increasing global oil supply from the likes of US shale oil producers and lackluster demand

OPEC and its allies (OPEC+ including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Oman, South Sudan and Sudan) led by Russia agreed to cut output by an additional 500,000 barrels per day until March 2020 as the 177th OPEC meeting held in Vienna, Austria, closed on Friday.Petrochemical PEF Carbon Fibers

The move (seeking to prop up the price of crude as the global economy weakens and US production soars) brought the total production cut to 1.7 million barrels per day, or 1.7% of global demand, Reuters reported.

-FEAD rejects calls for plastics-to-oil tech to be classed ‘recycling’

A key waste industry lobbying group has poured doubt on whether the chemical recycling of plastics should be regarded as equivalent to mechanical recycling and count towards achieving EU recycling targets.

In a position statement, the European Federation of Waste Management and Environmental Services (FEAD) argues that chemical recycling is currently “appropriately defined” in the Waste Framework Directive.

Under present rules, chemical recycling installations are classified as waste treatment plants. Petrochemical PEF Carbon Fibers
