12/07/2017 COCA COLA EUROPEAN PARTNERS plans to increase the content of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) in its bottles from 25 to 50% by 2020. In addition, it will launch a communication campaign aimed at encouraging more people to recycle. The campaign will include a “new and clear recycling message” on the bottles and a “collection system with reward for empty bottles”.
25/10/2017 NEW MEGA PLANET RPLANET EARTH: Construction is underway of a mega plastics recycling plant in the Los Angeles area, which will process the bales of post-consumer PET bottles up to the production of preforms of bottles, sheets extrusions and thermoformed packaging. The 302,000-square-foot facility in Vernon, California was built for a new company, rPlanet Earth, which will power post-consumer PET bottles from door-to-door collections. The processing cycle includes washing, decontamination and regeneration in food and beverage packaging. It will be able to produce approximately 36,300 tonnes of finished product per year. “The percentage of recycled content in the new products will depend on the wishes of the customer, but the facility will be able to generate 100% RPET products” said Daviduk the CEO by rPlanet Earth.
