MOSCOW – Trinseo (formerly Styron), a major European producer of polymer products, announced an increase in February prices for all brands of polycarbonate (PC) for the European region, the company said.

The price increase took effect on February 1, 2020 and is consistent with the terms of current contracts. So, the February contract and spot prices of PC companies for the CALIBER brand rose by EUR150 per ton.

It was previously noted that for the last time in the European market Trinseo raised PC prices since January 1, 2020. Then the price increase also amounted to EUR150 per ton.

According to the ICIS-MRC Price Survey , at the end of December, imports of granulated PCs and compositions to Russia excluding supplies from Belarus amounted to 3.37 thousand tons compared to 2.94 thousand tons a month earlier and 1.37 thousand tons in December 2018 . The import of PC granules excluding Belarusian supplies in the last month of 2019 amounted to 2.85 thousand tons (extrusion – 2.2 thousand tons, casting – 0.5 thousand tons, blowing – 0.1 thousand tons) versus 0 , 9 thousand tons in December last year.

In November of this year, imports of PC granulate reached 2.29 thousand tons. According to the results of the whole 2019, the supply of PC granules excluding Sabic material imports from Belarus almost doubled compared to the same period last year: from 10.86 thousand tons to 21.32 thousand tons.

In terms of technology, 63% (13.45 thousand tons) were extruded grades of PC granulate, 32% (6.9 thousand tons) were injection molding and 5% (0.97 thousand tons) were blown.
