Despite decades of effort, global plastic recycling rates remain extremely low. More than 400 million tonnes of plastic are produced each year, yet only about 10 percent is recycled. The primary barriers are technological complexity and poor economics.

Construction is expected to begin in 2026. Once operational, the facility is projected to process approximately 8,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually.
