PureCycle Shares Promising Update on BOPP Film Trials

PureCycle Technologies, Inc., a U.S. leader in advanced plastic recycling, announced exciting progress in its industrial trials using PureFive™ resin in biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films. The trials, carried out by Brückner Maschinenbau GmbH—one of the world’s top suppliers of stretched film production lines—delivered promising results.

The tests, conducted at Brückner’s state-of-the-art facility in Siegsdorf, Germany, used blends containing between 15% and 50% PureFive™ resin. The resin, sourced from PureCycle’s commercial plant in Ironton, Ohio, performed comparably to traditional virgin polypropylene across multiple measures. PureCycle CEO Dustin Olson emphasized the significance of these results. “Flexible packaging represents one of the largest markets for polypropylene,” Olson said. “Traditionally recycled materials have struggled to meet the strict purity standards needed for film production.
