Koksan will launch a new PET plant in late 2019
MOSCW – The Turkish company Koksan Pet and Packaging, a local producer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), is planning to launch a new PET production plant in Gaziantep, Turkey by the end of 2019, ICIS reports citing the director of logistics and the purchases of Ahmet Bilgili.
The company planned to launch this line with a capacity of 216,000 tons per year in the beginning at the end of 2016, and then moved to the end of 2017. The company explained the delay in launching unfavorable conditions on the market. Earlier it was reported that Koksan Pet and Packaging plans to supply about 25-30% of PET to the local market, the rest of the material will be exported to the countries of the Middle East, CIS and possibly Europe.
At present, a PET production plant with a capacity of 216,000 tons of PET per year or 700 tons per day is operating on the site.
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , by the end of 2017 PET imports to Russia decreased by 13% to 130 thousand tons against 149 thousand tons a year earlier.
