Sinopec set September prices for paraxylene at CNY6,550 per tonne
MOSCOW – China’s Sinopec set a contract price for paraxylene for September deliveries at CNY6,550 (USD994) per tonne, ICIS reports.
The company lowered the contract price by CNY30 (USD5) per tonne compared to the price in August – CNY6,580 (USD999) per ton.
As previously reported by the Market Report, the contract price of paraxylene in Europe for September supplies was agreed at the level of EUR740 per ton, which is EUR20 per ton higher than the level of August.
Paraxylene is a raw material for the synthesis of terephthalic acid – a semi-product for the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , the volume of PET imports in August in Russia was at a record low. Imports of PET as a whole without regard to Belarus in August amounted to 6.4 thousand tons, for the delivery of PET granules it was 5,3 thousand tons. Deliveries of PET granulate from the far abroad to the Central region of the country in August amounted to 1.9 thousand tons against 3.0 thousand tons in July and 4.7 thousand tons in June. Imports from China continued to decline and in August reached a level of 3,4 thousand tons against 5,1 thousand tons a month earlier. Supplies from South Korea rose to 1.09 thousand tons against 0.86 thousand tons in July.
