-Texon’s material gets Cradle to Cradle Certified
Texon’s one of the materials Texon Vogue Sahara has earned a Gold level Cradle to Cradle Material Health Certificate. The certificate was awarded by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute – a global, not-for-profit organisation, engaged in transforming the safety, health and sustainability of products through its Certified Product Standard.
Cradle to Cradle Certified is a globally recognised measure of safer, more sustainable products, made for the circular economy. Texon became involved in the Cradle to Cradle community in 2019 at the invitation of G-Star RAW, which wanted to source an environmentally friendly jacron label material, aligned with the high standards for its denim range.
Texon Vogue, based on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper, is a highly sustainable product. Widely recognised as a vegan friendly alternative to leather-based products, this durable, washable, paper-based material has a range of uses and is certified for jacron applications – including the production of jean labels.
-UNITED CAPS Issues Interim Sustainability Report
UNITED CAPS, an international manufacturer of caps and closures, today issued an interim sustainability report outlining its sustainability targets and how its sustainability strategies inform all of its efforts, from the plant to the consumer’s hand. The update outlines priorities, and progress against them, through 2025.

-Borealis launches polyolefins range using feedstock derived from renewable waste, residue streams
Borealis (Vienna, Austria) has launched a range of circular polyolefin products produced using renewable feedstock derived from waste and residue streams, reported Chemweek.
The company says the alternative to conventional fossil fuel-based feedstocks can help its customers lower their own carbon footprint for products including hygiene and food-contact applications. While fossil fuel-based feedstocks “will continue to be a mainstay of international Borealis polyolefins production operations, significant strides have been made towards the use of more sustainable feedstocks in large-scale commercial manufacture,” it says. Borealis began producing polypropylene (PP) in March this year based on renewably-sourced feedstocks, such as Neste-produced renewable propane, at its manufacturing facilities in Kallo and Beringen, Belgium. -Sasa Polyester Sanayi began producing PET at new plant in Turkey
Sasa Polyester Sanayi began producing polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) in Adana, Turkey in mid-September, said Hibya.
Early stage capacity totalled 500 tonnes/day. The new plant can produce PET bottle, film and fibre grades and production will be distributed among the grades depending on the demand from the market. As it was written earlier, Sasa Polyester Sanayi signed a licence and technical service agreement with US-based nylon and fibre producer INVISTA, paving the way for the construction of a 1.5m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production facility. The project investment would amount to USD935m.

Since 2016, the price of acrylonitrile is bound to decline every Oct, especially in Oct 2018, it has fallen down significantly, offset the most increment in Jan-Sep.
The reason is that, on the one hand, due to the National Day holiday, downstream buyers’ purchasing time is one week less, and the holiday time is longer when there are both National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival.

-KuibyshevAzot inaugurates its first European PA6 compounding line in Rudolstadt, Germany
KuibyshevAzot has started up its first European compounding line and the seventh globally at its STFG fibre spinning site in Rudolstadt, Germany.
The site is located as a production hub to serve West and East European markets and allows significant synergies between the PA6 compounding and fibre spinning business.
The new extruder, supplied by Krauss Maffei Extrusion GmbH has a capacity of 12 KT. It represents world class technology and will allow state-of- the-art manufacturing of high-quality compounds. Petrochemicals PETrecycled Packaging
The company says by using the strength of its vertically integrated value chain, it developed high-end engineering plastics based on Polyamide 6 for its global customers.
-BASF INVESTS IN PYROLYSIS-BASED RECYCLING OF WASTE TIRES
BASF SE (Ludwigshafen, Germany) is to invest €16 million into Pyrum Innovations AG, a technology company specialized in the pyrolysis of waste tires, headquartered in Dillingen/Saar, Germany. With the investment, BASF will support the expansion of Pyrum’s pyrolysis plant in Dillingen and the further roll out of the technology.
Pyrum is currently running a pyrolysis plant for end-of-life tires that can process up to 10,000 tons of tires per year. Until the end of 2022, two additional production lines will be added to the existing plant. BASF will uptake most of the pyrolysis oil and process it into new chemical products by using a mass balance approach as part of its ChemCycling project. The resulting products will mainly be for customers from the plastics industry who are looking for high-quality and functional plastics based on recycled materials. Plastic production and consumption has snowballed since large-scale production began in the 1950s. In 2020, an estimated 24 million to 34 million tonnes of plastic waste will enter the world’s lakes, rivers and oceans. That is roughly the weight of 21,000 rail locomotives.
And if trends continue without improvements in the way we manage plastic waste, we could be spewing as much as 90 million tonnes of plastic waste into the world’s waters by 2030. A new sanitary model RCM36X9SS rotary continuous mixer from Munson Machinery Co Inc., headquartered in Utica, N.Y., is designed to blend dry bulk solids including regrind, plastic pellets, expanded PS ingredients, and thermoplastic additives at low cost over long production runs.
The stainless-steel mixer has a stationary inlet and outlet, and proprietary mixing flights. Its 3-horsepower electric motor rotates a drum featuring smooth interior surfaces at 8 to 10 rpm.

Single stenter
Rainer Hurtz founded Nova Textil with a single Monforts Montex stenter and just five employees in 1999 and has steered its constant development and growth over the past twenty years.
“Our initial focus was on the coating of mainly glass fibre fabrics, awnings and sun protection products for outdoor furnishings,” he said. “We had a great customer who was providing us with so many orders that by 2005 we took the decision to order a second Montex stenter, in a special configuration. This also allowed us to enter the market for blackout and digital printing fabrics. We’ve had a great ongoing relationship with Monforts from the beginning.”
